Responsibilities
With limited supervision, designs and conducts industrial hygiene field surveys of advanced complexity to identify and assess chemical, physical, and biological health hazards, indoor air quality concerns, and other occupational disease exposures. Conducts extensive research and data collection to independently develop sound sampling strategies, identify root and contributing causes, and produce control recommendations traceable to the identified cause — including a clear conclusion as to whether an overexposure exists and why. Consults with IH Technical Directors or an assigned coach only for exposures falling within undemonstrated Advanced IH Skills.
Implements recommendations and may act as lead on multi-location accounts, ensuring assessments follow a consistent protocol across the assigned territory so that reports from different locations are directly comparable. Prepares technical reports to management and customers that quantify and qualify the value of IH interventions.
In coordination with the RCS Service Director, meets with large, multi-location customers to plan IH service and coordinate delivery with field IH staff countrywide. Independently connects assessment findings to customers' operational and cost priorities, communicates technical information in business terms, and participates in customer and broker discussions to build appropriate demand for IH services. Identifies and pursues routine service and resource growth opportunities discovered through fieldwork, follows through to completion, and keeps the Service Director or underwriter informed. Positively influences policyholder and agent/broker perceptions of the RCS value proposition, supporting revenue growth and retention.
Participates in projects to develop and maintain service tools, procedures, and standard operating protocols associated with IH consulting service, and researches emerging information to remain current with changing occupational health standards and guidelines. Partners with senior IH team members to deliver formal training to the broader RCS field organization and assists in strengthening Field Operations consultants' generalist IH capabilities. May direct and participate in training of internal and external customers, and provide compliance consulting services.
Mentors less experienced professionals and conducts peer reviews, delivering structured feedback on work product and documenting progress. Maintains and utilizes a specialist utilization plan that supports division talent strategies and the discipline's strategic plan, engaging all assigned learners. Raises continuous improvement opportunities and contributes to one or more projects annually.
Provides information and guidance to internal partners including Claims, Underwriting, and Distribution.
