As a Clinical Pharmacist, a caregiver in this role will provide inpatient pharmacy services at Tradition Hospital, located on the hospital’s second floor. As the hospital continues to expand, the pharmacy remains a busy and integral part of patient care, with pharmacists collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to support safe, effective and timely medication management. The caregiver will primarily work within the central and inpatient pharmacy settings, balancing operational and clinical responsibilities. Key responsibilities include reviewing patient charts and medication profiles, verifying medication orders, supporting clinical pharmacy initiatives and interventions, reviewing sterile and non-sterile compounded preparations, collaborating with providers and nursing teams to optimize patient care, ensuring compliance with departmental and regulatory standards and supporting medication safety and inventory management.
A caregiver in this position will work rotating shifts throughout the week, which may include 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Weekend coverage is required every third weekend, with approximately two holidays per year.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered and evidence-based pharmacy and medication services.
- Ensure the appropriate selection, dosing, administration and dispensing of medication orders.
- Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations.
- Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
- Actively contribute to medication safety initiatives.
- Ensure all pharmacy operations are in compliance with national accreditation standards.
- Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers, and/or patients.
- Provide cost-effective care.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- PharmD or Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy
- Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible in current state within 90 days of hire
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification within 90 days of hire for Individuals administering immunizations
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon or within one of hire for individuals responding to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest events
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Board Certification
- Completion of a Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY1), fellowship or relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience
- Post-Graduate Year 2 Residency (PCY2) or relevant experience for Clinical Pharmacists in an inpatient setting
Physical Requirements :
- Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
- Must have normal or corrected vision.
- Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person
