What Does a Direct Support Professional Do?
As a Direct Support Professional, you’ll help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities build independence, develop life skills, participate in their communities, and work toward their personal goals.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building Meaningful Relationships: Develop positive, respectful relationships with the people you support.
- Supporting Daily Living: Assist with cooking, personal care, hygiene, household tasks, and other activities of daily living.
- Promoting Independence: Encourage individuals to develop practical skills, make choices, and reach personal goals.
- Connecting People With Their Communities: Support community outings, appointments, recreational activities, and opportunities for social engagement.
- Providing Medication Support: Administer medications according to training, authorization, and established procedures.
- Maintaining a Safe Environment: Help keep the home clean, comfortable, organized, and welcoming.
- Documenting Care: Complete required documentation accurately and consistently.
- Advocating for Individual Rights: Respect each person's dignity, preferences, choices, and right to live a meaningful life.

Direct Support Professional Qualifications
We’re looking for dependable, compassionate individuals who are ready to learn, work as part of a team, and make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED.
- A valid driver’s license is required for all day-shift and swing-shift positions.
- Ability to pass a national background check.
- Ability to meet company driver approval requirements.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and assist with mobility support as needed.
- Willingness to complete required training and follow established safety and support procedures.
- Previous experience is welcome but not required .
