Role Overview: 
The Housing Policy & Development Intern will support Atlanta Beltline, Inc.'s efforts to advance equitable development, affordable housing initiatives, and community development projects throughout the Atlanta Beltline Planning Area. This position provides hands-on experience supporting housing and development activities through research, project coordination, data collection, community engagement, and administrative support.

The Housing Policy and Development intern will assist with organizing project information, preparing reports and presentations, tracking project activities, conducting research, supporting stakeholder engagement efforts, and maintaining project records. This role is ideal for students interested in urban planning, housing policy, community development, real estate development, public policy, or related fields. 
The Housing Policy & Development Intern will promote the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of ABI while fostering a collaborative and professional work environment.

Key Responsibilities: 
•    Provide administrative and project support for the Housing & Development team.
•    Conduct research on housing, community development, and related topics.
•    Gather and organize housing, demographic, and market data for projects and reports.
•    Assist with preparing presentations, reports, meeting materials, and project documents.
•    Support community outreach efforts, stakeholder meetings, workshops, and events.
•    Help maintain project trackers, schedules, and department records.
•    Assist with reviewing and organizing development, housing, and grant-related information.
•    Create maps, charts, and data summaries as needed.
•    Monitor housing and development news, trends, and opportunities relevant to ABI projects.
•    Participate in team meetings and take meeting notes when needed.
•    Perform other administrative and project-related duties as assigned.

Required:
•    Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Public Policy, Geography, Community Development, Real Estate, Urban Studies, Architecture, Political Science, or a related field.
•    Strong research, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
•    Ability to collect, organize, and summarize quantitative and qualitative information.

•    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
•    Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
Preferred: 
•    Coursework or experience related to housing policy, affordable housing, community development, land use planning, zoning, or real estate development.
•    Familiarity with GIS software (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, QGIS, or similar).
•    Experience conducting research, compiling data, or supporting planning and development projects.
•    Familiarity with housing, demographic, economic, or Census-related data sources.
•    Experience creating presentations, maps, dashboards, reports, or data visualizations.

Position Details:
•    Part-time internship position.
•    Interns must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week and may work up to 29 hours per week based on departmental needs and academic schedules.
•    Temporary, semester-based position.
•    Hybrid work environment based on department needs.
