The Opportunity

SWTCH is looking for a highly motivated DevOps Engineer to join our growing tech team. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will design, build, and optimize automated deployment pipelines, CI/CD workflows, and core infrastructure tooling. This is a collaborative role: you’ll work closely with development and operations teams to streamline deployment, testing, and software delivery.

Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain our Docker Swarm and Kubernetes platforms.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation, improving reliability and build speeds so new capabilities ship faster and more easily.
- Collaborate with Development and Architecture teams to build highly available cloud environments for internal and external infrastructure.
- Build and extend our toolchain, including AWS (Lambda, ElastiCache, CloudFront, CodePipeline, SSM), Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, and shell scripting.
- Maintain and enhance automation tooling and deployment infrastructure in line with SOC 2 best practices.
- Identify parts of the architecture that lack redundancy and improve reliability.
- Build monitoring, alerting, and tooling that surfaces front-end and back-end issues as soon as they happen.
- Write and maintain clear documentation for infrastructure and processes.

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, release engineering, or build automation, including 3+ years with large-scale distributed infrastructure and client-server architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container technologies in a microservices environment.
- Experience deploying and managing infrastructure as code with Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
- Strong experience with AWS and cloud infrastructure automation.
- Experience with CI/CD, continuous testing, and monitoring and alerting tools such as Grafana and the ELK stack.

Nice to Have

- Experience with messaging and streaming systems such as Kafka or SQS.
- An AWS certification. If you don’t have one yet, we’re happy to sponsor your exam.
- Experience working in a SOC 2 environment.
