Summary:
In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, and delivery of scalable, secure, and user-centered software solutions across Vizient. You will work closely with product managers, business stakeholders, architects, data scientists, quality engineers, and experienced software engineers to deliver small, independently demonstrable increments while developing strong engineering skills. This role will leverage AI-assisted development practices, including structured work items, repository guidance, automated implementation, pull requests, testing, and continuous feedback.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain applications, services, APIs, and user interfaces under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Translate defined requirements and technical designs into clean, maintainable, and testable software.
- Contribute to backend services using Java, Spring Boot, or comparable technologies.
- Contribute to modern web applications using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, or comparable frontend technologies.
- Develop and consume REST APIs and support event-driven integrations.
- Work with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and apply basic data-modeling and query-development practices.
- Write and maintain unit, integration, API, and end-to-end tests.
- Participate in debugging, code reviews, technical discussions, backlog refinement, demonstrations, and continuous-improvement activities.
- Contribute to application security, accessibility, observability, performance, scalability, and operational readiness.
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly and validate generated code with guidance from experienced engineers.
- Follow repository guidance, coding standards, testing expectations, technical documentation, and Software Factory development practices.
- Ask questions, seek feedback, share knowledge, and collaborate respectfully while demonstrating ownership, accountability, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience required.
- 0 to two years of professional software engineering experience, including internships, co-ops, or relevant project experience required.
- Foundational knowledge of software development principles, object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms required.
- Experience with Java or another object-oriented programming language required.
- Familiarity with web development concepts and technologies such as React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, or CSS required.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, relational databases, and source-control systems such as Git required.
- Understanding of software testing and the importance of writing maintainable and reliable code required.
- Familiarity with basic application security and secure-coding practices required.
- Ability to deliver work incrementally through small, independently testable units required.
- Ability to work effectively with product, architecture, data, quality engineering, and business stakeholders required.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, collaboration, attention-to-detail, and customer-focus skills required.
- Demonstrated ownership, accountability, integrity, commitment to inclusion, and willingness to receive feedback and continuously improve required.
Estimated Hiring Range:
At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $59,600.00 to $101,200.00.
