Stewardship Program & Solution Management
This position advances Stewardship programs and capabilities that support the responsible development, commercialization, use, and lifecycle management of Crop Science products. The role partners with Stewardship subject matter experts, scientists, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and develop digital solutions that enhance efficiency, data quality, compliance, and decision-making.
Working across Stewardship and scientific teams, the position translates business needs into practical tools and workflows that support data collection, analysis, reporting, and collaboration. The role also promotes digital fluency within the Stewardship Hub by driving adoption of emerging technologies and productivity-enhancing solutions. Success requires a strong understanding of Stewardship processes, stakeholder needs, and software development to deliver solutions that support product integrity throughout the product lifecycle.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role are:
Stewardship Program & Solution Enablement
- Partner with Stewardship teams, scientists, regulatory experts, compliance professionals, and operational stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve Stewardship processes, capabilities, and business outcomes.
- Translate Stewardship business needs into practical solutions that improve efficiency, consistency, data quality, traceability, and decision-making.
- Support implementation, adoption, and ongoing optimization of Stewardship-enabled solutions and processes.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain digital solutions that directly support Stewardship programs, scientific workflows, and product lifecycle responsibilities.
- Develop responsive web applications and supporting services using JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React, HTML, CSS, SQL, and REST-based integrations.
- Configure and support cloud-based application components, databases, integrations, and deployment processes in collaboration with Bayer platform and technical partners.
- Conduct unit, integration, functional, security, and performance testing to ensure solutions are reliable, fit for purpose, and aligned with Stewardship requirements.
Stewardship Process Excellence
- Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve consistency across Stewardship activities.
- Promote effective use of data and digital capabilities to support informed decision-making and operational excellence.
Digital Fluency & Capability Building
- Champion digital literacy and adoption across the Stewardship Hub.
- Connect Stewardship teams with emerging technologies, automation opportunities, and productivity-enhancing solutions that address business needs.
- Evaluate emerging technologies for their potential to improve Stewardship outcomes and operational effectiveness.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related discipline, with relevant experience supporting Stewardship, scientific, regulatory, or compliance work through digital solutions.
- Minimum of five years of experience developing and supporting business-critical software solutions, preferably within a Stewardship, Crop Science, scientific, agricultural, regulatory, quality, or compliance environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of product stewardship business processes across the product lifecycle and the ability to translate complex Stewardship and business requirements into practical, reliable digital solutions.
- Hands-on software development experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React, HTML5, CSS, SQL, relational databases, REST APIs, and JSON-based integrations.
- Experience designing, testing, deploying, troubleshooting, and maintaining responsive web applications and supporting services in a dev ops workflow , including cloud-based solutions, source control, automated builds, and secure development practices.
- Ability to collaborate with Stewardship subject matter experts, scientists, business partners, and technical teams in an Agile environment, communicating technical concepts and business needs clearly across audiences.
- Demonstrated commitment to data integrity, traceability, security, fit-for-purpose solution design, and effective management of priorities, risks, and delivery challenges.
- Agriculture Domain Experience
Preferred:
- Experience developing applications that support Stewardship, regulatory science, scientific testing, seed or product movement, laboratory coordination, or related Crop Science workflows.
- Experience with AWS services, PostgreSQL, container-based applications, and event-driven integrations or comparable cloud technologies.
- Familiarity with Bayer development platforms, application governance, access management, production support, and delivery tools such as Velocity, Phoenix, Jira, or Aha!.
- Working knowledge of biology, biotechnology, agriculture, seed systems, scientific data, or laboratory operations; an advanced degree in a related discipline is beneficial
Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately $97k-145k. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive program (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
