Job Title: Bilingual Patient Support Specialist Job Description
The Bilingual (Spanish/English) Patient Support Specialist serves as the first point of contact for patients in a community health clinic setting. This role provides exceptional customer service in both English and Spanish, supports the smooth daily operations of a Federally Qualified Health Center, and helps patients access primary care, dental, and mental health services. The specialist ensures accurate patient intake, efficient appointment scheduling, and clear communication while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist patients in a professional, courteous, and welcoming manner in both English and Spanish.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients by phone and in person, providing clear and compassionate customer service.
- Manage high-volume phone calls, schedule appointments, and maintain an organized and accurate appointment calendar.
- Facilitate efficient patient check-in and check-out processes, ensuring minimal wait times and a positive patient experience.
- Collect, verify, and update patient demographic information, insurance details, and other confidential documentation in the electronic medical record system.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry into the electronic medical record (EMR), including use of EPIC, to support clinical and billing workflows.
- Provide patients with accurate information about available services, clinic policies, procedures, and appointment requirements.
- Collaborate closely with medical, dental, and behavioral health staff to coordinate patient care and address patient inquiries and concerns.
- Apply knowledge of medical terminology and provider billing practices when communicating with patients and clinical staff.
- Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
- Use Microsoft Office and other administrative tools to prepare, update, and maintain records, forms, and reports as needed.
- Deliver consistent, high-quality customer care and problem resolution in a fast-paced healthcare and call center environment.
- Support general administrative and front-desk tasks to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the clinic.
Essential Skills
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both languages.
- At least 2 years of prior administrative, call center, or customer service experience.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on empathy, patience, and clear communication.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), preferably EPIC.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and provider billing practices.
- Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general administrative support tools.
- Accurate data entry skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with medical, dental, and mental health professionals.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare, clinic, or community health setting.

Work Environment
This is an onsite role within a community health clinic environment that provides primary care, dental, and mental health services to residents of public housing communities and surrounding neighborhoods. The schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with flexibility required to work varying shifts within these hours. There are no weekend shifts. The role involves working at a front desk and in an office setting with computers, phones, and an electronic medical record system (including EPIC and Microsoft Office). Candidates should be comfortable floating between multiple clinic sites in the Greenwich and Stamford areas until staffing is fully in place. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenwich, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.60 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
