Job Title: Design Engineer Job Description
The Design Engineer will report directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and/or Chief Engineer and will be assigned to specific projects. As a Project Engineer, you will collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure the job's budget and scope are maintained and to develop and maintain the project's schedule. You will be fully responsible for the project's design and interfacing.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the Engineering team provides clear and precise fabrication detail drawings and installation layouts based on the project scope, specifications, and estimates, including purchase components and fabrication material call-outs on drawings.
- Design mechanical equipment based on the project scope, specifications, and estimates, or instruct the Engineering team in such functions.
- Incorporate standards and specifications into drawings, including customer, local, state, and national codes and safety regulations.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with electrical and controls teams to incorporate electrical control devices into the mechanical design.
- Coordinate with vendors and sub-contractors for the purchase and fabrication of mechanical components.
- Coordinate job tasks, schedules, and functions assigned to engineering staff working on the project.
- Conduct and document design and safety reviews associated with the project as they pertain to the project scope and specifications.
- Check drawings for thoroughness and accuracy, including self-checking one's own drawings.
- Present information and reports to the client.
Essential Skills
- Mechanical Engineering Degree
- 5+ years of machine design experience within Inventor
- Excellent communication skills
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Project Management experience - cradle to grave project management
- Ability to transition into a design role prior to moving into a Project Engineer if light on Project Management experience

The engineering team consists of approximately 20-25 people, with fluctuations based on business needs. The dress code in-house is dress slacks and a polo, while on-site it is steel toes, jeans, and a polo.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $100000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Company provides medical, dental, and vision benefits.
