Compensation: The salary range for this position is estimated to be $60,265.00 – $200,929.00 annualized, which reflects the company’s current estimate of the potential compensation range at the time of posting. This salary range reflects the anticipated compensation for this position and represents one component of the total rewards package. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, education, qualifications, and allotted budget. About Our Opportunity

The Credit Officer Commercial Agriculture supports Farm Credit Mid-America’s Commercial Agriculture initiative by evaluating complex credit opportunities, approving or recommending credit decisions, and partnering with members of the sales team to structure financing solutions for customers. This role provides industry-focused expertise, develops strong customer and influencer relationships, and contributes to sound portfolio performance within a specialized agricultural lending segment.

The Credit Officer Commercial Agriculture applies solid functional knowledge and sound judgment to deliver dependable, high-quality work with minimal direction. Team members at this level manage moderately complex responsibilities, balance priorities effectively, and contribute meaningful insights that support team and functional performance. They are trusted to navigate varied situations, identify improvement opportunities, and operate with increasing autonomy.

The Senior Credit Officer Commercial Agriculture is designed for experienced team members who exceed role expectations and bring broad, diverse expertise to the team. Individuals in this role consistently deliver high-quality performance while providing guidance, leadership, and support to peers. Individuals in this role train team members while serving as a subject-matter expert for internal partners and departments across the Association. Proactively identifies solutions, leads by positive example, and supports organizational change through influence and collaboration.

How You Will Spend Your Time

- Analyzes complex loan requests, prepares credit packages, and provides timely credit recommendations and processing support.

- Approves loans within delegated authority and recommends credit actions involving structure, terms, pricing, documentation, and conditions.

- Partners with the VP Agricultural Lending on customer and influencer visits to identify financing needs and support business development efforts.

- Builds and maintains expertise and professional credibility within assigned segment, including maintaining a working knowledge of specialized government programs and utilizing those programs appropriately in the administration of credit.

- Monitors portfolio performance through ongoing credit analysis and identifies exposures that present elevated risk.

- Manages assigned work with minimal direction delivering a high degree of accuracy, quality and timely completion.

- Applies functional knowledge and judgment to evaluate information and make informed decisions.

- Anticipates needs, manages competing priorities, and proactively communicates status or risks.

- Supports process improvements by identifying gaps and recommending practical solutions.

- Collaborates effectively across teams to advance shared goals and business outcomes.

- Serves as a resource to less experienced team members through informal guidance.

In addition, the Senior Credit Officer:

- Applies advanced expertise to independently manage complex, high-impact work.Balances risk, quality, and business priorities using advanced judgment and foresight.

- Leads or significantly contributes to initiatives that enhance processes, systems, or outcomes.

- Consults with partners across functions to provide insight, recommendations, and solutions.

Education & Experience

- High School Diploma/GED with 7 years relevant experience.

- Bachelor's Degree with 3 years relevant experience.

Mental & Physical Requirements

While performing the responsibilities of this role, team members typically sit for extended periods, use hands for computer and office tasks, and communicate verbally. Standing or walking may be required on a frequent basis, with occasional reaching, lifting, or moving items weighing up to ten pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision. The work environment generally involves a moderate noise level.

This role requires sustained mental focus, problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple tasks, with extended computer use common. Some positions may include additional physical or mental requirements related to driving, such as holding a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel long distances.
