Summary
The Surgical Instrument Repair Tech (SIRT) I is an entry-level position that performs repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance on a multitude of handheld surgical instrument types and patterns used throughout TRIMEDX, its customers and affiliates. A SIRT I works under the direct supervision of various Surgical Instrument Repair Technicians and/or Site Leaders who will train the SIRT I in the proper methods of inspection and repair of multiple types and patterns of handheld surgical instruments and ancillary devices. Once sufficiently trained and validated on competencies, the technician will be expected to accomplish multiple assigned tasks and goals. The individual demonstrates adherence to the TRIMEDX core values in all professional interactions by showing respect to all people, creating real value, initiating meaningful change, and exhibiting integrity.
Responsibilities
Technical Service-40%
- Learn to perform routine preventive maintenance, inspection and repair on surgical instrumentation
- Required to be familiar with other specialized tooling positioning devices and jigs used in all surgical specialties.
- Learn, understand, and follow all repair and sharpening standards related to surgical instruments (ANSI Standards)
- Coordinate the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and outside service technicians to ensure proper service delivery
- Travel between TRIMEDX customer sites, hospital affiliates, and institutions for services is required
Regulatory Compliance-25%
- Maintain records of all work activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Learn, understand, and implement specific regulatory requirements related to the instrument repair trade
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database to include the inventory, preventative maintenance and quality assurance of instruments, nomenclature, and service history
- Adhere to the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP), including all regulatory agency compliances and other applicable policies and procedures
- Responsible for ensuring all service and documentation is complete, timely, and accurate
Account Relationship Management-25%
- Build and maintain customer relationships
- Discuss instrument status and functionality with hospital staff
- Maintain schedule with facility department(s) to pull trays needing to be serviced, coordinate work completion, and other related tasks
- Maintain accurate surgical instrument tracking software as required
- Adhere to the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization(s) served
- Serve as an ambassador for TRIMEDX by integrating the core values into job performance
Inventory Management-10%
- Maintain an accurate count and type of instruments serviced in trays in Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Ensure all original instruments are returned serviced or tagged for replacement, in their original tray
All other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience
- One-year prior experience working in a customer facing environment or an internship
- Good dexterity and hand eye coordination
- Potential to develop proficiency in application of small parts necessary for specialized repairs
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Basic computer skills as required to operate a Computerized Maintenance Management System and common office software, including, but not limited to, MS Office
- Valid driver’s license required; variable travel requirements depending on primary site that may require use of personal vehicle
Education and Qualifications
- High school diploma / GED
