About this role
Trek Travel provides global cycling, hiking, and walking vacations of a lifetime with the goal of helping more people actively explore and experience the world. As Trek Travel’s first dedicated Marketing Program Manager, you will own the marketing program portfolio beyond our digital products: campaigns, events, partnerships, public relations, social media, and branded experiences and assets. You will partner closely with our Technical Product Manager, who owns the website, ads, email, and CRM, working from a shared annual calendar of business priorities.
Our biggest programs, like Tour de France trips, require trip design, sales, logistics, guide operations, finance, and marketing to land together against fixed operational deadlines. You turn that complexity into a plan people can execute, with clear ownership, dependencies, resources, and decisions, and you keep it moving as priorities shift. The standard is results, not activity. Your first mandate is to establish the operating rhythm behind the marketing year: a visible calendar, a consistent program pipeline, clear ownership and resourcing, and a discipline of learning from each cycle. This is your opportunity to join the Trek Travel team and leave your mark on our company, on the active travel industry and on the world at large.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Marketing Calendar & Program Leadership
- Own the annual marketing and business initiatives calendar, planning campaigns, launches, events, and strategic initiatives with the Technical Product Manager, Head of Growth, and leadership stakeholders.
- Lead complex, cross-functional programs from brief through close-out, defining workstreams, owners, dependencies, critical paths, decision points, and launch readiness, while maintaining visibility against time, budget, scope, and results.
- Plan resources against company priorities, managing team capacity, contractor hours, and agency resources, and making effective use of contracted capacity.
Integrated Marketing Programs
- Lead integrated marketing programs across campaigns, events, social media, partnerships, public relations, and other growth initiatives.
- Develop new programs from concept through launch, including research, strategy, activation, measurement, and ongoing improvement.
- Oversee the development of branded experiences and assets across digital, physical, event, and partner channels.
- Partner closely with sales, product, and trip design to bring new products and campaigns to market and incorporate guest insights into future work.
- Measure program performance and use data and research to improve, redesign, scale, or retire the work.
Partnerships & Business Development
- Build and manage strategic relationships with media, brand partners, tourism organizations, ambassadors, creators, and other external partners.
- Lead business development and outreach initiatives that expand Trek Travel’s reach, visibility, and growth opportunities.
Operations, Resourcing & Change
- Design practical systems and processes that create clear ownership, strong execution, and adaptability as priorities and conditions change.
- Build and manage the internal and external capacity programs need, including contractors, agencies, partners, and future program team members.
- Give creative and specialist resources clear direction, context, and success criteria.
- Bring the right expertise and decision-makers into the work at the right time, and keep leadership ahead of material developments.
- Help teams adopt new roles, processes, and ways of working as the organization evolves.
- Use AI to improve your own productivity and redesign how work gets done.
WHAT ELSE WE'D LIKE TO SEE FROM YOU:
- 10+ years of relevant experience, with significant experience leading complex, multi-workstream, cross-functional programs in marketing or an adjacent field.
- Proven ability to take an ambiguous, multi-stakeholder initiative, turn it into a clear operating plan, and lead it through changing conditions without losing the outcome.
- Systems thinker who sees how work, people, dependencies, and decisions connect and designs practical systems that make complexity manageable.
- Sound judgment: you use data where it is useful, recognize when circumstances require a change in approach, and make good decisions without waiting for perfect information.
- Experience structuring teams around the work and managing agencies, contractors, and partners against priorities and budget.
- High accountability: you communicate early, surface risks before they become problems, and close loops without requiring follow-up.
- Strong relationship skills, with the ability to initiate outreach, build partnerships, and maintain external relationships that compound in value over time.
- Change management experience introducing new processes, roles, and ways of working while bringing people through the transition.
- Creative direction and people management experience, giving designers, writers, videographers, agencies, and other resources the context and direction to produce strong work.
- Hands-on experience with project and program management tools such as Asana, ClickUp, or similar.
- Practical fluency with AI tools and a habit of using them to improve how work gets done.
- Experience in travel, hospitality, outdoor, or another operationally complex consumer business, or in organizational design or change programs, is a plus.
- Event production experience and a relationship with cycling or endurance sport (or genuine curiosity about why people fly across the world to ride bikes) are a plus.
- You believe in the importance of hospitality and customer service, recognizing that customers are all around.
- You rock a positive, solution-oriented attitude and always ask “how can I help?”
- You exude fun and flexibility while contributing to the overall success of your Team.
