Technical Production Control – Advisor I
About your role:
As an Application Support Engineer at Fiserv, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary Production Support team to deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, automate, and maintain critical enterprise application platforms in production. You will help ensure platform stability, resolve complex issues, and drive long-term operational improvements.
What you’ll do:
- Perform troubleshooting, lead root-cause identification, and recommend long-term resolutions for platform issues.
- Implement application enhancements and fixes for issues reported by downstream teams or end users.
- Resolve incidents and problems, including complex issues, using established problem-solving techniques and processes.
- Recommend process and monitoring improvements.
- Conduct in-depth application reviews and provide feedback to improve the quality of application code artifacts.
- Collaborate with L2 support on data processing and troubleshooting activities.
- Apply a strong understanding of end-to-end application support and escalation procedures to deliver effective service operations.
- Create regular status reports using MTTR (Mean Time to Resolve) and MTTA (Mean Time to Acknowledge) metrics.
Experience you’ll need to have:
- 5+ years of engineering, production support, administration, or similar experience, including at least 3 years as a production support analyst.
- Knowledge of Apache, Tomcat, FTP, SFTP, SAMBA, NFS, and Boot FS.
- Hands-on scripting experience with shell, Perl, PowerShell, or Python for automation.
Experience that would be great to have:
- Understanding of ITIL concepts; ITIL certification is preferred.
- Experience with Incident, Problem, Change, Capacity, and Release Management in a 24x7 production support environment.
- Experience automating Unix and Windows environments, including Red Hat Linux, AIX, Solaris, SUSE Linux, and Windows, and using schedulers such as crontab, Control-M, Autosys, and Windows Task Scheduler.
- Working knowledge of SQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, or MariaDB, plus certificate renewals, installation, and management tools such as Venafi.
- Experience with Splunk, Dynatrace, PCF, and Kubernetes.
How you’ll work:
- This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration an essential part of this role because in-office experiences support onboarding and stronger productivity.
- Each shift includes at least one weekend day or evening.
- This is a full-time, direct-hire position; contract options and unsolicited agency submissions will not be considered.
Travel:
- Approximately 10% travel off-site or to other office locations is expected.
