About this role
Meta shows up at key moments in tech, culture, and entertainment through owned moments and GTM product launches, and this role owns how creative technology ideas translate into tangible, interactive activations across Meta's full portfolio.
You will lead the Creative Technology Pod, driving the strategy, vision, and goals to build novel product experiences (0→1) and engineer the ones that make sense to deploy globally (1→Many) into reusable, cost-effective assets built in-house. As a hybrid creative-technical lead, you generate original concepts informed by technical depth. The mandate is to bring Meta's technology out of the digital world and into tangible, everyday experiences, meeting people where they are through personal, relatable connection, and creating reliable, technology-forward moments across Meta's tentpole events and brand activations.
You will partner with the cross-functional working team to strategically prioritize new products and features along with key messaging, and align with key XFN leads on the overall narrative that guides the work. Above all, you make the idea buildable.
Responsibilities
Set the strategy for Creative Technology. Decide where we place our bets, which ideas are worth building, and what we are deliberately not doing each half
Narrow the focus on products. Decide which Meta products and features to build for, in partnership with Product leadership on priorities and roadmap
Own the prioritized slate of Creative Technology explorations, with intake running through you
Generate original ideas for what we could build that nobody has asked for yet. Bring the technically possible into the creative conversation early enough to change the idea
Co-create from the blank page, not after the idea is locked. Bring concepts of your own, shape the ones on the table, and protect the creative intent all the way through build, working directly with Product and Engineering
Build and prototype hands-on. Validate what is technically feasible early, and de-risk delivery before we commit to a show or launch date
Take experiences that work and make them scale. Document them well enough that another team can stage them, and keep them current as the products underneath them ship
Choose the external partners. Scout, evaluate, and select the studios, independent creative technologists, artists, and emerging-tech companies we build with
Set the craft and technical bar across builds, including privacy and security, and hold external partner builds to it
Direct the pod. Set priorities for Creative Technologists while managing shared services across production, fabrication, agency, measurement, and legal
Own the build budget and drive performance tracking through the pod scorecard: cost per activation, reuse rate, and downstream ROI
Serve as the primary XFN interface across Global Brand Experiences, Product, Product Marketing, Comms, Marketing Insights, Data Science, Legal, and Privacy
Hold a point of view on what is coming. Track emerging technology and the creative community around it, and tell us what we should be trying next year, not only this cycle
Qualifications
10+ years in creative technology, experiential production, or interactive design and development, including work delivered in live or public-facing environments
Portfolio showing creative craft and technical depth in equal measure, with clear evidence of what you personally built, which ideas were yours, and concepts that existed because you knew the technology was there
Hands-on experience with interactive and immersive technologies such as real-time engines (Unity/Unreal), AR/VR/MR and spatial computing, computer vision, generative AI models and APIs, creative coding, WebGL/three.js, and sensors and physical computing
Experience building demos or interactive experiences tied to a product launch, including work on unreleased or pre-announcement hardware or software
Demonstrated judgment about where to spend creative and technical effort: choosing a small number of the right bets
Experience owning a build budget and a portfolio of concurrent projects, including vendor evaluation, tooling decisions, and governance of a creative technology stack
Experience sourcing, selecting, and directing external creative partners (studios, independent creative technologists, artists, emerging-tech companies), including commercial and scoping conversations, and setting and holding the creative and technical bar on what they deliver
Experience collaborating with creators or artists on work that reached a public audience
Experience driving priorities and outcomes across teams you do not directly manage, and experience participating effectively in both creative reviews and technical design reviews
Experience building a multi-year roadmap or POV on emerging technology for a brand or product org, plus an existing network in the creative technology, new media art, or experiential community Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
Smart glasses and AI experience
Experience inside an in-house brand, product marketing, or R&D group at a large technology company, or creative technology leadership at a leading agency
