Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Security Officer Lead you will serve as a pivotal bridge between frontline security and administrative management, acting as the primary point of contact for law enforcement and facility safety. You will embody CommonSpirit Health’s core values of humankindness while supporting our strategic goals and quality improvement initiatives.

Every day you will manage shift staffing for assigned posts and ensure all security incidents are accurately documented according to departmental procedures. Your diligence will ensure consistent program continuity and maintain a secure, professional environment for all staff and visitors.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong operational decision-making skills and the ability to balance hands-on security duties with administrative oversight. We are looking for a detail-oriented leader committed to safety excellence and continuous process improvement.

- Provides leadership for Security Services and ensures delivery of quality services, regulatory compliance, and manages operations efficiently and effectively.

- Understanding the need to carefully evaluate the impact of incidents and emergency situations and choose the best path forward and ability to select and assertively communicate actions and activities that maximize security response.

- Assists with the implementation and maintenance of security procedures to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations; makes recommendations to improve physical security and/or department operations.

- Plans, organizes, and directs work assignments; assists with training of security staff.

- Ensures that all Security Officers assigned to the shift meet program standards, including uniform and grooming standards.

- Prepares all required shift paperwork; conducts ongoing security orientation and training of assigned staff and may serve as Field Training Officer.

Job Requirements

Required

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Six (6) months of experience as a security officer in a healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service, or one (1) year of experience as a security officer.

- Current driver’s license issued by the state wherein the position is posted with satisfactory status.

Able to provide a DMV report if requested within 30 days of hire for facilities which require the position to operate a motor vehicle.

- Current state-issued guard card/license, showing no disciplinary actions, in states where required.

- Obtain American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of employment.

- Familiarity with the duties and responsibilities of being a security officer.

- Able to properly use assigned equipment and follow established policies and procedures.

- Complete ICS 100HCb, 200b, & 700a training courses within 90 days of hire.

- Maintain all other required training/certifications thereafter while employed by CommonSpirit Health.

- Must be able to speak English and communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.

- Knowledge of and hands-on training in the use of de-escalation techniques.

Preferred

- International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officers within 90 days.
