About this role

JOB SUMMARY

At Canopy by Hilton Scottsdale Old Town, our rooftop pool is a gathering place where guests linger, from a late-morning swim to a desert sunset over Old Town. The Pool Server shapes those moments by welcoming guests on the pool deck and in our cabanas with food and beverage service that feels attentive, personal, and relaxed.

This position is responsible for taking and delivering food and beverage orders, serving alcoholic beverages responsibly in accordance with Arizona liquor laws, processing guest payments accurately, and keeping the pool area clean, stocked, and welcoming. The Pool Server works closely with the Outrider Rooftop Lounge and Cobre Kitchen + Cocktails teams to keep service seamless during busy weekends, events, and peak season.

This is a part-time position with a consistent schedule of four to five shifts per week, a strong fit for someone who wants steady hours and a dependable place on the team. Schedules follow seasonal business levels and include weekends and holidays.

As a member of the Lodging Dynamics team, this role reflects what it means to be Driven By Culture: we lead with heart, serve with the spirit of hospitality, and strive for excellence in every guest interaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Welcome guests to the pool deck and cabanas in a warm, genuine, and attentive manner, creating a relaxed atmosphere from arrival to departure.

- Take accurate food and beverage orders, enter them into the point-of-sale (POS) system, and deliver orders promptly in accordance with established service standards.

- Serve alcoholic beverages responsibly in compliance with Arizona liquor laws (Title 4) and hotel policy, including verifying identification, monitoring guest consumption, and declining service when appropriate.

- Share knowledgeable recommendations about the menu, cocktails, and daily features, and accurately communicate allergy and dietary requests to the kitchen and bar.

- Check food and beverages before serving to confirm that presentation, temperature, and portions meet standards.

- Process guest payments, room charges, and cash transactions accurately, and follow established procedures for cash handling, tip reporting, and end-of-shift closeout.

- Provide attentive, personalized service to cabana and reserved-seating guests, including packages, minimums, and special requests.

- Complete opening, running, and closing side work as assigned, including setting up and breaking down service stations, restocking supplies, and maintaining ice, pool-safe drinkware, and service items.

- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized pool deck by clearing and sanitizing tables and loungers and promptly reporting spills, broken items, or safety hazards.

- Follow food safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling, storage, and temperature control of food and beverages in an outdoor environment.

- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and concerns, resolve routine issues within the scope of the position, and escalate safety concerns, intoxicated guests, or unresolved matters to a Supervisor or Manager.

- Communicate and coordinate with the bar, kitchen, Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Engineering teams to support guest needs and smooth pool operations.

- Follow hotel heat safety practices, including hydration, shade, and rest breaks, and help teammates recognize and report signs of heat-related illness.

- Follow posted pool rules and hotel safety procedures, and notify leadership or emergency services as directed when a guest safety or emergency situation occurs.

- Follow all company policies, brand standards, safety procedures, and required operational guidelines, and complete all assigned training and compliance requirements.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

At Canopy, three values guide how we show up for our guests and for each other:

- Own the Details. You notice what makes the difference, such as a fresh towel, an empty glass, or a guest celebrating something special, and you take pride in getting it right.

- Make the Moment Count. Every visit to the pool is a chance to elevate the ordinary. Your energy shapes how guests feel, whether they are here for a quiet afternoon or a weekend celebration.

- Show Up for Each Other. You stay engaged, listen, and jump in to help your teammates, because guests can feel it when a team works well together.

- Sound judgment in responsible alcohol service, including recognizing signs of intoxication and handling refusals of service calmly and respectfully.

- Ability to remain calm, positive, and service-oriented during busy periods, weather changes, or unexpected situations.

- Basic math skills and the ability to learn and use a POS system, handheld ordering devices, and other required technology.

- Working knowledge of food and beverage service, or a willingness to learn menu items, cocktails, and service standards.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and pitch in wherever needed.
