Job Title: Medical Assistant ENT and Orthopaedics Job Description This role supports a busy outpatient Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) practice and an Orthopaedics practice by providing front-desk, clerical, and basic patient-care support. You will help ensure a smooth patient experience by rooming patients, managing scheduling and documentation, and supporting clinicians in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and provide professional, friendly front-desk support throughout their visit.
- Room patients efficiently, verify basic information, and help prepare them for their appointments.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments for ENT and Orthopaedics clinics.
- Perform scanning, faxing, and electronic filing of medical documents into the electronic health record system.
- Complete and track prior authorizations accurately and in a timely manner.
- Use the electronic health record (EHR), including Epic, to update patient information, document visits, and support clinical workflows.
- Provide responsive, courteous customer service to patients, families, clinicians, and other staff.
- Support general clerical functions such as answering phones, routing messages, and managing paperwork.
- Assist with basic patient care tasks as directed by clinical staff within the scope of the role.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other support staff to maintain an efficient, patient-centered practice.
Essential Skills
- At least one year of experience in a medical office, healthcare administration, or a closely related setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience using electronic health records, preferably Epic.
- Demonstrated administrative support skills, including scheduling, scanning, faxing, and document management.
- Strong front-desk and clerical skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Proven customer service skills in a patient-facing or client-facing environment.
- Ability to support basic patient care activities in an outpatient setting.
- Reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in an ENT or Orthopaedics practice or other outpatient specialty setting.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, busy medical office environment.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients and clinical teams.
- Interest in long-term career growth within a large, established health system.
Work Environment This position is based in a busy outpatient ENT and Orthopaedics practice with standard daytime hours in an office-clinic setting. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milford, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
