Job Title: Quality Engineer Job Description
The Quality Engineer ensures that products meet stringent aerospace quality standards by leading detailed failure analyses, driving corrective and preventive actions, and supporting continuous improvement across manufacturing processes. This role combines hands-on technical problem solving with team leadership, process validation, and active participation in quality governance activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed analysis of customer returned parts to identify failure modes and use findings to drive effective Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) improvements.
- Conduct thorough root cause analysis to prevent internal recurring failures and reduce risk across different connector product lines.
- Validate customer Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) and define appropriate follow-up actions to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.
- Supervise a team of approximately six employees in the final inspection department, providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, and on-the-job training as needed.
- Oversee final inspection activities to ensure compliance with aerospace quality requirements and internal quality standards.
- Represent the Quality Assurance function on the Material Review Board (MRB) for internal rejections and support disposition decisions for nonconforming material.
- Support and drive first article inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
- Lead and participate in audits related to quality systems, processes, and product compliance.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and improve overall process capability.
- Document analysis, findings, and actions in a clear and traceable manner to support compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience working as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the aerospace industry.
- Strong knowledge of AS9102 requirements and practical experience with First Article Inspection (FAI).
- Demonstrated ability to perform effective root cause analysis and implement robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Hands-on experience analyzing customer returned parts and validating RMAs to determine appropriate quality actions.
- Experience supervising or leading a team in a quality or inspection function, including providing guidance, coaching, and training.
- Familiarity with Material Review Board (MRB) processes and handling internal rejections and nonconforming material.
- Solid understanding of quality assurance principles, methods, and tools in an aerospace or similarly regulated industry.
- Ability to support and participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and represent the quality function.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with multiple connector product lines or similar complex electro-mechanical products.
- Background in aerospace quality standards and regulatory expectations.
- Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment.
- Comfort working with structured quality documentation such as inspection reports, nonconformance reports, and CAPA records.
Work Environment
The role operates in a manufacturing and inspection environment that supports aerospace production, with regular interaction between the final inspection area, quality assurance, and engineering teams. Work involves close collaboration with production lines for different connector products, participation in MRB meetings, and involvement in audits and process reviews. The position typically follows standard full-time working hours, with periods of increased activity during audits, major investigations, or key customer deliveries. Appropriate professional attire and adherence to any applicable safety and cleanroom or controlled-area requirements are expected while working on the production floor or in inspection areas.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glendale, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
