The Position
Kaufman, Hall & Associates, LLC, is seeking a Sr. Associate, Healthcare Insights to support the development and ongoing enhancement of Kaufman Hall's health-system insights and intelligence capability.
The Sr. Associate will play a key role in developing an analytical foundation through the interpretation, validation, and application of health-system financial, operating, market, and organizational data. This individual will contribute to the development of benchmarks, comparative analyses, and analytical approaches that enable consultants to evaluate health-system performance.
The successful candidate will combine healthcare financial and analytical expertise with intellectual curiosity, sound business judgment, and a passion for solving complex problems. The role requires an individual who can independently manage analytical workstreams, develop and test hypotheses, synthesize findings into actionable insights, and collaborate effectively with healthcare subject-matter experts, technology partners, and business stakeholders. This individual will help ensure data, measures, and resulting insights are accurate, meaningful, and relevant to consulting needs.

Key Responsibilities
- Independently analyze and synthesize health-system financial, operating, market, and organizational data to identify meaningful trends, relationships, and insights that support the development and enhancement of Kaufman Hall’s Insights Engine.
- Develop, test, and refine hypotheses related to health-system performance, market dynamics, peer comparisons, and industry trends.
- Lead defined analytical workstreams supporting Kaufman Hall’s Insights Engine, including the development and enhancement of benchmarks, comparison groups, performance measures, and other analytical assets used within the capability.
- Validate data elements, metrics, calculations, benchmarks, and analytical outputs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and relevance.
- Collaborate with healthcare subject-matter experts, technology partners, and Innovation and Insights leadership to develop analytical approaches and translate findings into meaningful business insights.
- Evaluate data quality and identify inconsistencies, gaps, anomalies, and opportunities to improve the accuracy and usability of Kaufman Hall’s data assets.
- Develop reports, presentations, and analytical summaries that communicate findings, implications, and recommendations to consulting and business audiences.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Kaufman Hall’s Insights Engine by identifying opportunities to enhance benchmarks, analytical approaches, and underlying data assets.
- Manage assigned project workstreams and deliverables while collaborating effectively across a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 2-5 years of experience in healthcare consulting, healthcare finance, financial planning, healthcare analytics, benchmarking, strategic planning, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of health-system financial and operating performance, including the ability to interpret financial statements, operational metrics, performance indicators, and relationships among key measures.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret complex data, identify meaningful trends and relationships, develop hypotheses, and draw data-driven conclusions.
- Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis to support business, operational, or financial decision-making.
- Ability to assess the quality, consistency, and reliability of data and identify issues, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ability to translate analytical findings into clear observations, insights, and recommendations for both technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, contribute to complex initiatives, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare subject-matter experts, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
- Intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and a desire to learn new healthcare data sources, methodologies, analytical approaches, and technologies.
- Ability to work independently while seeking guidance appropriately and contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.

Work Environment
- Travel Required: Occasional 0-10%.
- The role is remote (Chicago preferred).
- Work is regularly performed in a home office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment.
- It may require the maintenance of a home office and proximity to an airport for work related travel.
Estimated Hiring Range:
At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $105,000 to $140,000.
