The Position

Kaufman, Hall & Associates, LLC is seeking a Vice President, Innovation & Insights to lead the development and operation of a new enterprise capability focused on advancing Kaufman Hall's growth agenda through disciplined innovation, strategic portfolio management, and evaluation of new growth opportunities.

Reporting to the Innovation & Insights Leader, this role will establish and manage the processes, governance, and operating cadence required to move strategic opportunities from concept through evaluation, decision-making, pilot execution, and scale. The Vice President will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and practice leaders, helping the organization prioritize growth investments, evaluate strategic opportunities, and create accountability around innovation initiatives.

The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking, exceptional project leadership, business-case development, executive communication, and stakeholder management capabilities to help Kaufman Hall identify, evaluate, and advance opportunities that contribute to long-term growth and market leadership.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead Kaufman Hall's Innovation & Growth portfolio, establishing the governance, processes, and accountability mechanisms required to evaluate, prioritize, and advance strategic growth opportunities.

- Manage the end-to-end innovation portfolio lifecycle, ensuring initiatives progress from idea through business case development, evaluation, pilot, transition to practice ownership for scaling, or closure.

- Build and maintain portfolio management processes, including intake, prioritization, stage-gate reviews, sponsorship requirements, success measures, and executive reporting.

- Support evaluation of inorganic growth opportunities, including acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and other growth initiatives, by facilitating structured assessment and decision-making processes.

- Partner with Practice Leaders, Managing Directors, and executive stakeholders to develop business cases, align priorities, assess risks, and advance approved initiatives.

- Facilitate portfolio governance forums, prepare executive-level recommendations, and translate complex analyses into clear decisions regarding investment, growth opportunities, acquisitions, partnerships, and portfolio priorities.

- Monitor portfolio performance, resource requirements, risks, and dependencies to ensure growth investments receive appropriate oversight and produce measurable outcomes.

- Lead and develop team members, while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and disciplined execution.

- Exercise independent judgment regarding portfolio operations, stakeholder coordination, and execution activities while developing recommendations for material investment, growth, partnership, acquisition and prioritization decisions, including when initiatives should be advanced, scaled, deferred, or discontinued.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

- Significant experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, corporate development, transformation, portfolio management, or a related strategic leadership environment; healthcare experience strongly preferred.

- Demonstrated success leading complex cross-functional initiatives and navigating ambiguity in a matrixed organization.

- Experience evaluating strategic investments, growth opportunities, partnerships, acquisitions, or new business capabilities.

- Strong business acumen and analytical judgment, with the ability to synthesize complex information and translate insights into actionable recommendations.

- Exceptional communication and executive presentation skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders and facilitate decision-making.

- Proven project, program, or portfolio leadership experience, with a track record of driving execution and accountability.

- Demonstrated people leadership experience, including coaching, development, and performance management.

- Ability to build credibility and trusted relationships across all levels of an organization.

Estimated Hiring Range:

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $185,000 to $285,000.
