Payroll Advisor

The Opportunity

The Payroll Advisor is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for assigned employee populations while ensuring compliance with company policies and payroll regulations. This role performs end-to-end payroll activities, including biweekly payroll processing, payroll data validation, employee system configuration, and issue resolution. The Payroll Advisor acts as a subject matter resource for employees and business partners, providing guidance on payroll-related matters and ensuring payroll transactions are completed accurately and within established deadlines.

What You’ll Do

- Process biweekly payroll for assigned employee groups, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.

- Review and validate payroll inputs, audits, and exception reports to identify and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll completion.

- Configure and maintain employee payroll system data, including time and attendance settings, direct deposit/banking information, tax withholding elections, and earnings and deduction setup.

- Research, investigate, and resolve payroll issues, inquiries, and discrepancies raised by employees, managers, HR, or third-party providers.

- Process payroll-related transactions such as new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, compensation changes, and other employee lifecycle events.

- Ensure compliance with applicable payroll legislation, tax requirements, company policies, and internal controls.

- Partner with HR, Benefits, Finance, and other stakeholders to support payroll operations and maintain data accuracy.

- Assist with payroll reconciliations, audits, reporting, quarter-end and year-end activities.

- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to process documentation and knowledge-sharing activities.

The Skills you will bring to the team

- Postsecondary education in Business, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

- Experience in payroll administration, payroll processing, or a related operational role.

- Knowledge of payroll processes, time and attendance systems, and payroll legislation.

- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.

- Experience working with payroll and HRIS systems.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

- Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

This range may not be applicable to other locations and targeted compensation is midpoint of range. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role.
