## Project Overview:
Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. ## Job Summary:
The Lead Night Shift Superintendent is responsible for the leadership, planning, coordination, and execution of multi-discipline construction operations during the night shift working under the Night Shift Manager. This position serves as a senior construction leader for night-shift activities. Provides leadership, direction, training, career development, and oversight to all night-shift Superintendents, Craft Professionals, subcontractors, and field teams. Coordinating resources, priorities, work interfaces, schedules, productivity, safety performance, quality expectations, and shift turnover across the project. Ensures night-shift work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved design documents, schedule, budget, project procedures, and quality requirements #LI-ME1
## Major Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, supervision for all night-shift Superintendents, Craft Professionals, subcontractors, and field teams; establish expectations, coordinate assignments, and monitor execution and performance.
- Serve as the senior construction representative during assigned night-shift hours, exercising authority for field coordination, work prioritization, immediate decision-making, issue escalation, and continuity of nightshift project operations.
- Establish multi-discipline execution strategies, operational plans, work sequencing, access, logistics, temporary works, workface readiness, and interface controls aligned with the overall construction schedule and project priorities.
- Determine and coordinate workforce, supervision, materials, tools, equipment, lighting, temporary facilities, transportation, and other resources required to support planned night-shift activities and maintain productivity.
- Review and coordinate installation work packages, short-interval plans, progress, installed quantities, cost and schedule performance, productivity, forecasts, and constraints; implement corrective actions and support recovery planning when required.
- Coordinate night-shift activities with day-shift construction leadership, Field Engineering, Project Controls, ES&H, Quality, Subcontracts, Security, Logistics, subcontractors, and client representatives to maintain continuity.
- Ensure assigned construction operations and subcontractor activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, schedules, budgets, project procedures, permits, inspection and testing requirements, acceptance criteria, and quality standards.
- Lead formal shift turnover and handoff processes, documenting completed work, remaining scope, changed conditions, active permits, equipment status, material needs, unresolved constraints, safety and quality concerns, and required follow-up actions.
- Identify and resolve field execution, engineering, access, staffing, and constructability issues; coordinate timely support and escalate critical risks when resolution exceeds available night-shift authority or resources.
- Champion Bechtel's Zero Accident Philosophy ensuring safety, environmental, security, housekeeping, and quality expectations are integrated into all night-shift construction operations.
## Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
## Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of multi-discipline construction execution, including means and methods, work sequencing, temporary works, trade interfaces, access, logistics, workface readiness, field coordination, and shift-turnover requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, train, and develop multiple Superintendents and large field organizations, coordinate Craft Professionals and subcontractors, set clear expectations, resolve conflicts, and maintain accountability.
- Ability to plan and execute work using installation work packages, Advanced Work Packaging principles, short-interval planning, resource forecasting, constraint management, quantity tracking, productivity monitoring, schedule analysis, and recovery planning.
- Working knowledge of project controls, including progress reporting, installed quantities, cost and schedule performance, workforce and expenditure forecasts, productivity analysis, and critical-path drivers.
- Ability to read and apply drawings, specifications, vendor documents, permits, inspection and test requirements, applicable codes and standards, RFIs, field changes, subcontract requirements, and constructability information across multiple disciplines.
- Strong leadership, communication, technical judgment, coordination, and decision-making skills, with the ability to maintain continuity between shifts, escalate critical issues, and lead safe execution throughout the night-shift.
