Job Title: Lab Technician Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to prepare samples for laboratory testing and perform sample preparation activities according to standard operating procedures (SOPs). The role involves preparing media and laboratory materials, plating samples for microbiological analysis, and accurately documenting completed work. The technician will maintain clean and organized work areas while following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), laboratory safety, and quality procedures. Additionally, the technician will support laboratory operations to ensure turnaround times are met.
Responsibilities
- Prepare samples for laboratory testing.
- Perform sample preparation activities according to SOPs.
- Prepare media and laboratory materials.
- Plate samples for microbiological analysis.
- Accurately document work completed.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Follow GMP, laboratory safety, and quality procedures.
- Support laboratory operations to ensure turnaround times are met.
Essential Skills
- Experience in sample preparation, pipetting, and plating.
- Ability to follow SOPs and handle repetitive tasks.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods.
- Experience working in fast-paced environments.
- Strong attention to detail and dependability.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in laboratory, food manufacturing, retail, restaurant, production, warehouse, or other high-volume operational environments.
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Experience with aseptic techniques and food science is a plus.
Work Environment
Work in a fast-paced food and environmental testing laboratory with a team-oriented environment and high sample volume. Tasks include sample preparation, plating, and media preparation with strict adherence to quality and safety standards. Employees will spend the majority of their shift on their feet. Flexible schedules are required, with potential for overtime. Shifts available: Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM; Tuesday to Saturday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM or 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM; Sunday to Thursday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lancaster, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
