SUMMARY

The CT Reader Lead serves as the principal imaging specialist for cardiovascular computed tomography (CT) research and clinical imaging analysis activities within the Cardiology Department. This position provides technical leadership and subject matter expertise for CT image acquisition review, image annotation, quantitative and qualitative analysis, database management, and quality assurance initiatives. The CT Reader Lead oversees imaging workflows, trains and mentors CT Readers and research staff, establishes quality standards, and ensures adherence to study protocols and departmental objectives. The incumbent collaborates with investigators, physicians, sponsors, research coordinators, and leadership to support research operations, imaging core activities, and cardiovascular imaging projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead Oversight, Serve as the lead resource for cardiovascular CT imaging analysis and annotation activities.

- Coordinate daily workflow and assignment of imaging projects to CT Readers and research staff.

- Provide training, mentorship, and technical guidance to core laboratory staff.

- Review work products for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established protocols.

- Assist leadership in developing departmental core laboratory procedures and best practices.

- CT Image Analysis

- Perform advanced quantitative and qualitative analyses of cardiovascular CT imaging studies.

- Conduct coronary artery calcium scoring, plaque analysis, cardiac chamber measurements, and other protocol-specific assessments.

- Review and interpret imaging findings according to study protocols and quality standards.

- Resolve complex imaging and measurement discrepancies. Ensure consistency and reproducibility of imaging analyses across projects and readers.

- Image Annotation and Processing

- Perform advanced 3D image annotation utilizing specialized cardiovascular imaging software.

- Process imaging datasets from multicenter clinical trials and investigator-initiated studies.

- Evaluate image quality and identify technical issues requiring corrective action.

- Maintain imaging standards for research and publication-quality data.

- Quality Assurance and Compliance

- Develop and maintain quality assurance procedures for image processing and analysis.

- Conduct routine audits of imaging measurements and database records.

- Ensure compliance with study protocols, sponsor requirements, institutional policies, HIPAA regulations, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.

- Monitor data integrity and recommend corrective actions when necessary.

- Data Management and Reporting

- Oversee imaging databases and ensure data accuracy, completeness, and security.

- Maintain image archives and electronic records.

- Generate imaging reports, study metrics, and project status updates.

- Assist with data extraction, manuscript preparation, abstracts, presentations, and research publications.

- Track project milestones and imaging deliverables to ensure timelines are met.

- Research Support

- Collaborate with core laboratory staff on imaging-related aspects of clinical research projects.

- Assist with protocol development and implementation.

- Participate in research meetings and contribute imaging-related recommendations.

- Maintain current knowledge of advancements in cardiovascular CT imaging and imaging software.

- Attend departmental meetings, training programs, and continuing education activities.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

- Bachelors degree in radiologic sciences, Health Sciences, Biological Sciences, Public Health, Research Administration, or a related field required.

- Master's degree preferred.

Experience

- Minimum two (2) years of experience in cardiovascular CT imaging analysis, clinical research, medical imaging, or related healthcare setting.

- Minimum one (1) years of lead, supervisory, or project coordination experience preferred.

- Experience with multicenter clinical trials and imaging core laboratory operations preferred.

- Experience developing imaging protocols, quality assurance programs, and workflow processes preferred.

- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training required or must be obtained within designated timeframe.
