Position Summary

The Grain Dryer Sales Specialist is responsible for developing and managing customer relationships while driving sales of grain drying systems, related equipment, and services to agricultural producers, grain elevators, cooperatives, and commercial grain operations. This role combines technical product knowledge with consultative sales skills to help customers select the right drying solutions to maximize efficiency, grain quality, and profitability.

The ideal candidate understands agricultural operations, has strong relationship-building skills, and can manage sales activity with a high degree of independence.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities with farmers, grain elevators, cooperatives, and commercial grain operations.
- Maintain and expand relationships with existing customers to generate repeat business and referrals.
- Meet or exceed annual and quarterly sales targets.
- Develop regional sales plans and strategies to increase market share.

Customer Consultation

- Assess customer grain drying needs based on crop type, moisture levels, harvest timing, and storage capacity.
- Recommend appropriate grain drying systems and equipment configurations.
- Provide accurate product specifications, pricing, and ROI estimates.
- Educate customers on operational efficiency, fuel savings, and grain quality improvements.

Product Knowledge & Technical Support

- Maintain deep knowledge of grain dryers, ancillary equipment, controls, and related agricultural technology.
- Assist customers with system design, layout planning, and capacity sizing.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, installation, and service teams to ensure successful project completion.
- Provide basic operational training and troubleshooting support and coordinate service when necessary.
- Conduct on-farm visits, facility inspections, and equipment demonstrations.
- Attend farm shows, trade events, and agricultural meetings to generate leads.
- Monitor competitor activity and industry trends.

Collaboration

- Work closely with installation teams, service technicians, and customer service departments.
- Provide feedback to product development engineering and management based on customer needs.
- Coordinate financing options and assist customers with available incentives and grant programs.

Qualifications

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent industry experience may be considered.

Experience

- 3+ years of sales experience in agricultural equipment, grain handling, or related industry preferred.
- Experience working with farmers, grain elevators, or cooperatives highly desirable.

Skills

- Strong consultative selling and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to explain technical equipment to non-technical customers.
- Self-motivation.
- Basic understanding of grain drying systems, storage, and handling equipment preferred.

Technical Knowledge (Preferred)

- Grain dryers (tower, mixed-flow, cross-flow)
- Grain handling systems
- Moisture management and grain storage practices
- Agricultural equipment grant programs

Work Environment

- Combination of field sales and occasional office work.
- Frequent travel
- Seasonal workload peaks during harvest and pre-harvest planning periods.
- Outdoor work on farms and grain facilities.
- Occasionally working at elevated heights
