About this role

Location: New York, NY

Work Model: Onsite, 5 days per week

Industry: Payroll and back-office software (B2B SaaS / fintech)

Compensation: $110K-$160K OTE (70/30 split)

About the Company

Our partner is a venture-backed Series A software company building the payroll and back-office platform that modern startups run on. Roughly 45 people in New York, growing fast, and raising their next round. Their customers are startups and small businesses, which makes the account management team the commercial owner of the existing base rather than a support function.

The Opportunity

This is the third seat on a small account management team, and it is a selling role. You will own a book of startup customers end to end: keeping them, growing them, and making sure the product is actually driving the outcomes they bought it for. Retention and expansion are your numbers, and you will be expected to go find the expansion rather than wait for it to surface.

Because the team is still small, the way you run your book shapes the way the team runs. You will work closely with the Head of Customer Success and, shortly, a dedicated account management manager, in an organization where process is still being written and good ideas land quickly.

Responsibilities

- Own a portfolio of startup and small-business accounts, carrying retention, expansion and satisfaction targets
- Identify and close expansion opportunities across the product suite, not just seat growth
- Run executive-level business reviews with data-driven recommendations tied to customer outcomes
- Anticipate customer needs and connect product usage to the business results the customer cares about
- Prioritize strategically across a large portfolio while hitting quarterly targets
- Partner with customer experience, activations and sales to keep the customer journey coherent
- Contribute to the account management playbooks and processes as the team scales

Requirements

- 2-3+ years in B2B new-business sales or account management
- Proven track record managing a book of business and driving retention, expansion and customer satisfaction, with numbers you can speak to
- Experience running executive-level business reviews and presenting data-driven recommendations
- Strong business acumen and the ability to tie product usage to business outcomes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence stakeholders at every level
- Highly organized, comfortable prioritizing across a large portfolio
- High adaptability and comfort with the pace of an early-stage startup
- Technical aptitude to learn a complex product quickly
- Based in or relocating to New York and able to work onsite five days a week
