About this role

About Outward

For 50 years, Outward has been providing high-quality support and care services to vulnerable people across London, predominantly in North East London. Established by families seeking alternatives to institutional care, we’ve grown into a respected provider of person-centred support for adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, and complex needs. We support over 1,000 people across nine boroughs, guided by our core values: engage, enable, and empower.

Outward is proud to be an accredited Living Wage Employer . This means we are committed to paying the Real Living Wage – not just the government minimum or national living wage – to our frontline Support Workers and other eligible staff. We recognise the value of the work our teams do, and we are committed to ensuring fair pay that reflects the true cost of living. The Real Living Wage is updated annually by the Living Wage Foundation, and Outward remains committed to aligning our pay accordingly.

About the role

Are you an experienced housing or care leader who is passionate about helping older people live safely, independently and with dignity? We are looking for a confident and compassionate Team Manager to lead our Elder Extra Care sheltered schemes across Hackney and Camden.

This is a rewarding opportunity to lead a dedicated team delivering high-quality housing-related support and housing management services. You will play a key role in creating welcoming, well-run schemes where residents feel respected, listened to and supported to maintain their tenancies, access the right help and enjoy a good quality of life.

What you’ll be doing

· Lead, motivate and support staff across our Elder Extra Care sheltered schemes, ensuring they have the guidance, supervision and development they need to deliver excellent services.

· Champion person-centred support that promotes independence, choice, safety, wellbeing and dignity for older residents.

· Oversee support planning, tenancy sustainment, risk management, safeguarding, resident involvement and partnership working.

· Manage day-to-day housing and property management processes, including voids, lettings, rent and service charge arrears, repairs, health and safety checks, cleanliness and building security.

· Build strong working relationships with residents, colleagues, commissioners, local authorities, families and partner agencies.

· Monitor budgets, service charge expenditure, performance information, complaints, records, audits and inspections.

· Ensure the service is delivered in line with Outward’s policies, procedures, contractual requirements and values.

· Provide frontline management cover when needed, including some evenings, weekends, bank holidays and participation in on-call arrangements.

You will be a capable and values-led manager with experience of leading staff and delivering housing-related support services for adults, ideally within older people’s services, sheltered housing, supported housing or extra care. You will be organised, calm under pressure and confident working with residents and partners to resolve issues and improve services.

You will understand the importance of safe, well-managed homes and respectful support. You will also bring sound knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, tenancy sustainment, property management and resident involvement.

If you are someone who leads with empathy, takes pride in high standards and wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older people, we would love to hear from you
