Job Title: Microsoft Fabric Administrator

Department

Platform Engineering and Development Tower

Reports To

BDS Product Senior Analyst

Job Summary

We are looking for a Microsoft Fabric Administrator to design, build, and maintain platform level BI solutions while owning the governance, security, and administration of the Microsoft Fabric environment.

This role combines hands-on Power BI development (data modeling, DAX, reports/dashboards) with platform administration responsibilities — capacity management, workspace governance, security policies, data lineage, and compliance across the Fabric ecosystem (Power BI, Data Factory, Lakehouse/Warehouse, OneLake).

The ideal candidate balances technical BI development skills with a strong governance mindset to ensure data quality, security, and scalability across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer a large enterprise Microsoft Fabric tenant including capacities, workspaces, domains, and licensing.
- Define, implement, and enforce platform best practices, naming conventions, workspace structure, environment promotion (Dev/Test/Prod), automated processes and lifecycle management.
- Manage tenant-level settings, admin portal configurations, and Fabric REST API/PowerShell automation for governance tasks (e.g., auditing, monitoring, provisioning).
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic (data) models to support platform decision-making.
- Build and optimize data models using DAX, Power Query (M), and best practices for star-schema design.
- Collaborate with technical stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable BI solutions.
- Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS) as needed.
- Establish and maintain data lineage, cataloging, and metadata management practices.
- Define and enforce certification/endorsement processes for datasets and reports (Certified/Promoted content).
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations (e.g., LGPD, GDPR) as applicable.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing solutions in Power BI (data modeling, DAX, Power Query).
- Experience administering Microsoft Fabric (or Power BI Premium/Power BI admin portal) — capacities, workspaces, tenant settings.
- Solid understanding of data governance principles: security, access control, data lineage, cataloging, and compliance.
- Experience with Row-Level Security (RLS), sensitivity labels, and Microsoft Purview (or similar data governance tools).
- Experience working with Fabric/Synapse Notebooks and PySpark for data transformation, exploration, and pipeline development within Lakehouses.
- Experience with Python, Pyspark, SQL, REST APIs for automation and administration tasks.
- Strong communication skills, able to translate technical governance requirements into practical guidelines for business users.

Preferred Qualifications

- Microsoft certifications such as PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst), DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer), or DP-500/DP-203.
- Experience with Azure services (Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure DevOps).
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (LGPD, GDPR).
- Prior experience defining governance frameworks in a medium-to-large organization.
