About this role

We are seeking a Technician to strengthen the technical capability of our laboratory and manufacturing team. This hands-on role focuses on assembling, testing, diagnosing, and repairing electromechanical gas and temperature monitoring equipment and components. Beyond completing their own work, the successful candidate will help other technicians become more capable, consistent, and efficient. This person must independently troubleshoot equipment, interpret schematics, and teach others how to identify and resolve problems. Product-specific training will be provided; candidates should already bring strong electronics skills, sound diagnostic judgment, and a demonstrated ability to mentor others.

Key Responsibilities

- Assemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair instruments and components using schematics, common hand tools, soldering equipment, and a digital voltmeter.
- Independently diagnose unfamiliar or recurring faults, identify underlying causes, and verify that repairs restore proper operation.
- Mentor and coach laboratory technicians through hands-on instruction, troubleshooting demonstrations, and constructive feedback that build independent problem-solving skills.
- Perform Windows-based testing and accurately record test results and repair information in Excel and established documentation.
- Help improve assembly, testing, and repair procedures; share technical knowledge and recommend changes that reduce repeat work and improve repair quality.
- Monitor parts, supplies, and finished equipment inventory to support production, repairs, sales, and shipping.
- Participate in team meetings, technical training, and process improvement initiatives; remain aware of production requirements and assist other departments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

- Three or more years of directly relevant experience in assembly, testing, troubleshooting, or instrument repair, with demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and resolve equipment faults.
- Electrical/electronics certification or trade-school training. Equivalent military technical training and experience will be considered.
- Strong knowledge of electronics and electronic components, advanced schematic-reading and troubleshooting skills, and sound mechanical aptitude.
- Proficiency with hand tools, soldering equipment, and a digital voltmeter, including the ability to perform precise work on small components.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor technicians, clearly explain diagnostic reasoning, and provide constructive feedback.
- Ability to learn new products and procedures, follow instructions, and apply established safety and quality practices.
