Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector
Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: 2nd Shift
Starting Pay: $31/hour (Higher pay available based on experience + $3.00/Hour Night Differential)
Overtime: Saturdays as needed
Position Overview
We are hiring a Quality Control Inspector with structural steel fabrication experience to support quality checks throughout the production process. Experienced senior-level structural steel fitters or fabricators with strong inspection skills may also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Inspect fabricated structural steel throughout the production process.
- Identify and document nonconformances in accordance with AWS D1.1 and D1.5 requirements.
- Verify materials, dimensions, layouts, and part placement against shop drawings and specifications.
- Complete in-process and final quality inspections.
- Assist with annual AISC quality control audits.
- Work with production teams to investigate and correct quality issues.
- Support quality improvement efforts and maintain fabrication standards.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in structural steel layout and fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and construction drawings.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes and quality standards.
- Welding certification in AWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred.
