About this role
ABOUT US
At OakNorth, we're on a mission to empower the UK's most ambitious businesses. Since 2015, we've lent over $21 billion across the UK and US, helped create more than 58,000 new homes and 36,000 new jobs, and supported hundreds of thousands of personal savers — all while fuelling the UK economy.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Credit Analytics team sits at the heart of OakNorth's lending business, providing rigorous financial analysis and credit assessment across a diverse portfolio of commercial loan opportunities. We work closely with Debt Directors, Risk, and client-facing teams in the UK to ensure every lending decision is underpinned by deep analytical insight and a thorough understanding of the borrower's operating environment.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a Senior Associate to join our Credit Analytics team, taking ownership of detailed loan analysis across sectors and geographies. You'll build financial models, draft concise and well-structured credit reports, conduct sensitivity and stress testing, and engage directly with clients to discuss data and analytical frameworks. This is a high-impact role for someone who combines strong financial acumen with sharp communication skills and a genuine curiosity for business and markets.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Conduct detailed analysis of loan opportunities across various sectors and geographies, developing a thorough understanding of each borrower's business and operating environment.
- Draft concise, well-structured credit reports with clear key takeaways for Credit and Risk to review and comment on.
- Build detailed financial models covering transaction details, financial statement analysis, projections, ratio analysis, and credit metrics.
- Conduct sensitivity analysis and stress testing on projections to assess loan serviceability under adverse scenarios.
- Identify deal-specific covenants that can serve as early warning signals for loan monitoring purposes.
- Conduct detailed industry and market studies to understand the operating environment of borrowers.
- Interact with clients to discuss data gaps, inconsistencies, and analytical frameworks; liaise with Debt Directors and other UK stakeholders throughout the credit process.
YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU HAVE…
- 5+ years of relevant experience in credit analysis, financial analysis, or a related role within financial services.
- Strong financial analysis skills with a thorough understanding of accounting and financial concepts, including the ability to build and interrogate detailed financial models.
- Proven ability to draft clear, concise, and well-reasoned credit reports for senior stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills with confidence interacting with Debt Directors, clients, and other stakeholders across geographies.
- A proactive, results-driven mindset — curious, flexible, hands-on, and comfortable operating at pace in an environment where change is part of daily work.
Nice to Have
- MBA, PGDM, CA, or CFA from a reputed institute.
- Experience conducting industry or market studies across multiple sectors.
- Prior exposure to covenant structuring or loan monitoring frameworks.
