About this role

Energy Aspects currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer to join our Engineering team, based in Athens. The Engineering team is responsible for the delivery of Energy Aspects’ core web products: the client-facing platform through which energy traders, analysts and investors around the world access our research, data and analytics, together with the APIs and shared design system that power it.
This is an ideal opportunity if you enjoy owning features end to end, from the user interface down to the API, the database and the cloud infrastructure behind it. You will work in a small, senior, cross-functional team alongside product managers, designers, QA engineers and our research and data teams.

The role works closely with colleagues in London (two hours behind Athens), Paris and other offices. You will build a solid understanding of how our clients use energy market data and research, and help shape the technical direction of the platform as we bring together the products and technologies of the group.

Duties

- Deliver features from planning and design through development, testing, deployment and maintenance.
- Build fast, accessible and intuitive user interfaces with React, Next.js and TypeScript, including data-rich views such as interactive charts and tables.
- Design and develop APIs and backend services with Node.js and TypeScript on AWS, including integrations with third-party platforms.
- Model, query and serve data efficiently across the data stores behind our applications and APIs.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, balancing maintainability, cost, scalability, security and robustness.
- Improve performance, reliability and security across the platform, and keep our frameworks and dependencies up to date.
- Promote engineering best practices in automated testing, code review, CI/CD, observability and production support.
- Use modern tooling and AI-assisted development to ship faster without compromising quality.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, QA engineers and research stakeholders, and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and running production web applications
- Strong TypeScript and modern React, including server and client state management
- Production experience with Next.js or a comparable React framework
- Backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript on AWS (ideally serverless), including REST API design and infrastructure as code
- Strong automated testing habits (e.g. Vitest/Jest, Testing Library, MSW, Playwright) and experience with CI/CD and cloud deployment (e.g. GitHub Actions, Vercel)
- Hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools and the ability to critically review AI-generated code
- Sound architectural judgement, autonomy and ownership, with experience mentoring engineers
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluent written and spoken English (Greek not required)

Nice to have:

- Identity and access management (e.g. Auth0, OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect, SAML)
- Data visualisation libraries (e.g. Highcharts) and data-heavy tables
- Search and caching infrastructure (e.g. Elasticsearch, Redis)
- Design systems built on MUI and Tailwind, monorepo tooling (e.g. Nx, Turborepo) and Storybook
- Web performance optimisation (bundle size, Core Web Vitals)
- Observability tooling (e.g. New Relic, OpenTelemetry)
- Interest in energy, commodities or financial markets

Don’t tick every box? We would still love to hear from you.
