Project Engineer

Description

Seeking a Project Engineer to support the construction and execution of utility-scale renewable energy projects, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and solar power generation.

This individual will work closely with Project Managers, field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and engineering teams to support project coordination, quality, procurement, documentation, and field execution.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Field Coordination

Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
Support Project Managers and field teams with day-to-day project execution.
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, engineering teams, and other project stakeholders.
Assist with construction permits, fees, approvals, and tracking.
Maintain material tracking lists, inspection records, concrete placement logs, non-conformance reports, and closeout documentation.

Quality Assurance & Testing

Support construction quality management programs.
Manage and document three-phase inspections.
Coordinate project testing and third-party inspections.
Identify and document non-conformance issues and communicate them to project leadership.
Track corrective actions through completion.
Support third-party testing and commissioning teams with project-specific requirements.

Submittals & Procurement

Create, maintain, and track project submittals.
Coordinate with customers and engineering teams to obtain approvals.
Track procurement activities and material deliveries against the construction schedule.
Communicate submittal requirements to vendors and subcontractors.
Ensure required documentation is complete and compliant.

RFIs, Change Orders & Document Control

Develop, distribute, and track Requests for Information (RFIs).
Assist with change order documentation.
Maintain drawing markups and field documentation.
Support preparation of as-built drawings and project closeout packages.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Education

Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Experience

4+ years of experience in construction, renewable energy, EPC, or a related environment.
Experience with solar, BESS, electrical, or utility-scale construction is preferred.

Skills:
Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and field operations across civil, mechanical, and electrical scopes
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules
Proficiency with construction management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam (Revu), and scheduling platforms
Familiarity with NEC, NFPA70E, and applicable local building codes and safety regulations
Understanding of permitting processes, inspections, and regulatory compliance requirements
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
OSHA 30 certification required (or ability to obtain prior to mobilization)
Current drivers license

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
