About Innovamat

Innovamat is an educational organization specializing in mathematics education . Founded in Barcelona in 2017, Innovamat provides schools with a complete, research-based math program covering Early Childhood through Secondary Education, grounded in research across mathematics education, cognition, and neuroscience.

Innovamat also partners with leading thinkers and researchers in mathematics education, including Peter Liljedahl, author of Building Thinking Classrooms , and Brian Butterworth, a leading researcher in mathematical cognition and dyscalculia, bringing world-class expertise and perspectives into our broader work.

Our program integrates curriculum, teacher training, assessment, and intervention into a single coherent system. Today, Innovamat is present in 9 countries, partnering with 31,000+ teachers across 3,300+ schools and reaching more than 720,000 students. We are one of the few organizations in the sector with independently validated efficacy data from external research institutions, and the first non-American organization to pass the California State Board of Education adoption process for a core math curriculum.

Why This Role Is Special ✨

You'll be in the classroom, alongside early childhood teachers , helping shape how young children experience and learn mathematics from the very beginning. Through classroom observations, live modeling, and thoughtful feedback, you'll help educators create rich mathematical experiences that build children's curiosity, confidence, and foundational understanding.

You'll bring to life the mathematics behind everyday classroom activities, helping teachers recognize and develop young children's mathematical thinking through play, exploration, problem-solving, and meaningful conversations. From developing early number sense and understanding quantities to exploring patterns, shapes, and spatial relationships, you'll help teachers move beyond rote memorization toward a deeper, more intuitive understanding of mathematics.

You'll also have the autonomy to shape how coaching happens in your schools — designing personalized professional development journeys, adapting your approach to different educators and classroom contexts, and becoming a trusted thought partner for teachers and school leaders.

If you're passionate about early childhood education, fascinated by how young children learn mathematics, and excited to help teachers build strong mathematical foundations that last a lifetime, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact at scale.

What You Will Do 🏁

- Transform early childhood mathematics instruction — support teachers in moving beyond rote counting and memorization toward meaningful mathematical experiences that develop children's understanding, reasoning, and confidence.
- Design and deliver personalized Professional Development (PD) journeys , tailoring coaching plans to each school, teacher, and stage of implementation.
- Coach teachers in real classrooms through observations, live modeling, and feedback cycles, helping them translate research-based approaches into effective daily practice.
- Bring mathematics to life through play and exploration — help teachers use manipulatives, games, stories, movement, and hands-on activities to develop early mathematical thinking.
- Build strong mathematical foundations — support teachers in developing children's number sense, understanding of quantities, counting, patterns, shapes, spatial reasoning, and early problem-solving skills.
- Develop teachers' understanding of how young children learn mathematics , helping them recognize children's mathematical thinking, ask purposeful questions, and respond to different learning needs.
- Drive measurable impact — strengthen teacher confidence and instructional practice while supporting children's mathematical engagement, conceptual understanding, and readiness for future learning.
- Lead hands-on, math-focused PD sessions and workshops that model developmentally appropriate teaching strategies and connect mathematical theory to real classroom practice.
- Act as a trusted thought partner to early childhood educators and school leaders, helping them navigate instructional challenges and build a shared vision for high-quality mathematics education.
- Build a strong community of early childhood math educators across your region, sharing effective practices and supporting continuous professional growth.
- Travel 30–50% of your time to schools and districts to support implementation, coaching, and professional development.

You Have 🔍

- A strong background in early childhood education and mathematics education. You are a current or former early childhood teacher, preschool teacher, Transitional Kindergarten (TK) teacher, or early elementary educator with a clear interest in how young children develop mathematical understanding. Experience teaching mathematics to children ages 3–6 is strongly preferred.
- A deep understanding of early mathematical development. You understand how young children develop number sense, counting, cardinality, quantity recognition, pattern recognition, spatial reasoning, and early problem-solving skills. You know how to make mathematical concepts accessible through play, exploration, manipulatives, and meaningful classroom interactions.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting other educators. You enjoy helping teachers reflect on their practice, experiment with new instructional approaches, and grow in confidence. Experience leading professional development, modeling lessons, or facilitating teacher learning is a strong plus.
- A passion for bringing research into the classroom and positively impacting the mathematical development of young children and the educators who support them.
- A strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practice. You recognize the importance of children's developmental stages and know how to balance purposeful mathematical instruction with curiosity, play, and hands-on exploration.
- Expertise in creating meaningful relationships and generating opportunities with school leaders and district-level administrators, or equivalent.
- A knack for speaking and connecting with teachers. Educator-to-educator communication skills are fundamental for thriving in this role.
- A hands-on approach to your work, understanding that our mission requires a lot of building from scratch.
- An entrepreneurial mindset capable of thinking outside the box and excited about the challenges of an early stage.
- An appetite to travel and visit schools and classrooms in your region.
