About this role
Tesla is accelerating the transition to sustainable energy. As we deploy and service Commercial Energy & Charging infrastructure across EMEA — from Megapack sites to Supercharger stations — our field technician team is growing around 30% a year. How quickly and cost-effectively we equip them with the right tools, equipment, vehicles and locations directly shapes fleet uptime and customer experience. We need an engineer to own that end to end.
Based in Tilburg and part of EMEA Operational Excellence & Support Services, you will own the tooling and field-asset supply chain for Energy & Charging Service: what we need, how it is specified, where we source it, and the programs that keep it running. You will run competitive sourcing, build the vendor and contract framework, and localize our industrial tooling supply chain — cutting dependence on US-sourced tooling to reduce lead time, landed cost and cross-border risk. You will also use your engineering knowledge of the products we service to source equivalent tools and parts from EMEA suppliers, release the part numbers our teams run on, and build programs such as serialization and calibration from the ground up.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering, supply chain and operational excellence. You will be the technical voice in every sourcing decision and the main contact for EMEA Procurement and the global Tooling organization in the US. You will work with the Sr. Operations Specialist, Tooling Supply & Fulfillment: you build and decide, they run and track, so what you design holds up in the warehouse and in the field.
- Lead Technical Sourcing & Localization: Translate the service needs of our Megapack and Supercharger fleet into sourceable specifications. Identify, qualify and onboard EMEA suppliers, run first-article and equivalence approval, and dual-source critical items to cut lead time, landed cost and dependence on US-sourced tooling.
- Own Part Numbers, Kits & the Tool Matrix: Create, release and maintain part numbers so every item can be ordered, tracked and serialized. Own kit definitions and the EMEA Tool Matrix, including which tools are personal kit, service-center stock or shared hub tools, and run kit change control.
- Partner with Procurement on Critical Categories: Act as the main point of contact for EMEA Procurement. Define requirements, evaluate bids on total cost of ownership and technical fit, and lead sourcing for industrial tooling, subcontracted labor and service partners, with Procurement running the commercial and contract process. Grow the share of spend on punch-out catalogs.
- Build Serialization & Calibration Programs: Set the serialization standard and tool-tracking system requirements. Design the EMEA calibration program from scratch, including in-scope tools, intervals, standards and regional calibration pathways and vendors, and launch it with Operations.
- Own Repair Decisions & Failure Insight: Make technical calls on electrical, electronic and complex tool failures, provide warranty evidence, and turn failure trends into sourcing actions. Plan EMEA retrofit campaigns and write the work instructions.
- Design the Network & Field Assets: Build business cases for regional tooling hubs for shared industrial tools, and for technician vehicles (lease or buy), third-party storage and unmanned locations, and lead them through approval and sourcing.
- Be EMEA's Voice to Global Tooling: Act as the EMEA counterpart for the US Tooling organization on new tool releases, Tool Matrix updates and retrofit campaigns, and represent regional requirements such as CE marking back to the US.
- Own Budget, Performance & Improvement: Manage supplier performance and supply risk, own the tooling budget and forecast with Finance, define KPIs, and specify requirements for automation and internal tools such as Warp.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree mechanical or industrial Engineering or a equivalent experience in a closely related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in supply chain engineering, technical sourcing, supplier quality, manufacturing or service engineering, ideally with industrial, electromechanical or engineered products.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, technical specifications and BOMs, and to judge whether an alternative tool or part is a true equivalent.
- Hands-on experience qualifying and onboarding suppliers, including technical validation and first-article inspection.
- Experience creating and managing part numbers, item master data or engineering change processes in an ERP or PLM system.
- Commercial acumen: experience building business cases, evaluating total cost of ownership and working alongside procurement on sourcing events and contracts.
- Strong data analysis (Excel, Power BI or equivalent) and project management skills across multiple countries.
- Excellent communication in English, with the ability to influence cross-functionally and represent a region credibly to a global function.
- Experience with calibration programs (e.g., ISO 17025), battery energy storage, high-power DC charging or field service operations, knowledge of CE marking or EU customs, and Dutch, German or French language skills are a strong plus.
