Working alongside development engineers and fellow dyno operators, you will perform engine builds, instrumentation, testing, troubleshooting, data acquisition, and test-cell maintenance activities. This position combines hands-on mechanical work with advanced software, controls, and data-analysis responsibilities in a highly specialized laboratory environment. Success in this role requires a broad technical skill set spanning engines, electrical systems, test equipment, and computer-based diagnostics. The opportunity offers ownership of a complex development test cell that directly supports future Polaris powertrain products.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate engine dynamometers and development test cells to support powertrain hardware development, engine calibration, emissions, performance, and certification testing.
• Configure, instrument, update, and maintain test-engine hardware, including engine assembly, disassembly, inspection, and reassembly activities.
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot data-acquisition systems, engine-control software, emissions equipment, and associated laboratory instrumentation.
• Collect, interpret, analyze, and document test data while ensuring the quality, accuracy, and integrity of all results generated.
• Maintain, calibrate, diagnose, and repair test-cell systems and equipment, including mechanical, electrical, cooling, airflow, fuel, and control-system components.
• Support engine calibration and controls development activities by operating software used to monitor and adjust engine parameters.
• Create, maintain, and improve laboratory test procedures, processes, and documentation to support efficient and repeatable testing.
• Collaborate with engineers and technical team members to execute test requests, troubleshoot issues, and support development objectives.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment that complies with OSHA requirements and 5S practices.
• Protect confidential information, test results, and development activities.
Desired Competencies:
• Technical / Functional Expertise: You apply the required technical or professional knowledge to perform your role effectively and stay current within your area of expertise.

• Accountability: You take ownership of your responsibilities, follow through on commitments, and hold yourself to high standards for quality and results.
Qualifications:
• Technical degree related to engines, powertrain systems, automotive technology, diesel technology, or a similar field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with high-performance small engines, engine building, engine testing, engine calibration, or related powertrain applications.
• Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, fuel-injection systems, and engine operating principles.

• Fabrication, machining, welding, fixture-building, or powersports dealership experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and computer-based diagnostic or data-acquisition systems.
• Ability to work around machinery, engines, moving parts, hazardous chemicals, and elevated noise levels in a professional laboratory environment.
