About this role
Job Description
The Compliance team is accountable for managing compliance activities to ensure customer, employee, and third-party adherence to Thomson Reuters policies, third-party requirements, and regulatory obligations. Within Compliance, the Segment Compliance team gives each major business segment a named compliance owner — this role owns that mandate for Products — a horizontal segment spanning compliance-by-design work across TR’s product portfolio.
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Segment Compliance & Assurance Partnership, this Senior Analyst will serve as the primary compliance point of contact for the Products segment. Given the breadth of the segment relative to current team capacity, this role is expected to prioritize the highest-risk products and use cases rather than attempt even coverage across everything in scope. The role also continues the misuse investigations and content-protection work that has always sat with this team, and contributes to the team’s growing partnership with Risk’s Assurance Hub — helping turn flagged signals into root-cause fixes with business partners rather than one-off reports.
This is a key position within the Legal, Risk & Compliance (LR&C) program, sitting alongside segment-aligned peers covering Legal Professionals (including Risk & Fraud), Corporates, Marketing & Comms, TAAP, and Operations & Technology. The ideal candidate combines strong product and business compliance instincts with comfort operating autonomously in a segment coverage model that is still being built out, and is energized by helping shape that model as it matures.
This position offers significant opportunity for growth as Segment Compliance's coverage model matures. The successful candidate will help define what strong compliance ownership of the Products segment looks like, build visibility with product and segment leadership, and be well-positioned for advancement into management as the model — and the candidate's role in it — scales. This role suits an experienced compliance professional who is motivated as much by building something new as by executing an established playbook.
Key Responsibilities
- Own compliance strategy and execution for the Products segment, prioritizing the highest-risk products and use cases rather than attempting uniform coverage across every product in scope
- Conduct misuse investigations, use-case vetting, and customer reviews within the Products segment, continuing the team’s existing content-protection and monitoring work
- Partner with product, legal, sales, and segment leadership on regulatory compliance obligations, third-party requirements, and business policy adherence specific to assigned products
- Support Compliance by Design work with product and engineering teams so compliance is considered at inception for new products and features, not retrofitted after launch — this is the core, horizontal focus of the Products segment
- Contribute segment-level insight to the team’s partnership with Risk’s Assurance Hub — helping translate flagged signals into root-cause analysis and mitigation plans with business partners
- Leverage AI tools, automation platforms, and analytics to strengthen monitoring, risk identification, and reporting for the segment
- Lead execution of compliance policies and processes relevant to Products from design through implementation; take ownership of related third-party and internal audit requests and remediation
- Support compliance training and employee communications related to product compliance obligations and policy updates
- Provide litigation support and conduct legal/compliance research as needed; assist with document and contract analysis
- Mentor junior compliance staff and contribute to team capability-building as the Segment Compliance model matures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- 5-7+ years of business, legal, or compliance experience, with demonstrated expertise in product or business compliance management and regulatory risk assessment
- Solid working knowledge of regulatory frameworks relevant to enterprise and corporate customers, with the ability to quickly assess regulatory applicability and impact on a new or unfamiliar product area
- Proven experience with Compliance by Design methodologies and early-stage product governance; track record of embedding compliance into product development and business processes
- Comfort helping define a coverage model rather than only executing an established one — the Products segment is horizontal by nature and its ownership model is still taking shape
- Advanced experience implementing and leveraging AI tools, automation platforms, and data analytics in compliance functions; comfort evaluating and adopting emerging compliance technology
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment on complex compliance issues; track record of working autonomously with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability and strategic alignment
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to examine complex facts, perform thorough analysis, and reach sound determinations independently
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication abilities (written and verbal); proven ability to build credibility with executives and cross-functional partners and influence without direct authority
- Excellent project management and organizational skills; proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver results under pressure
- Strong PC skills and proficiency with Microsoft 365 (including Teams, SharePoint), SAP, and Salesforce; experience or strong familiarity with data visualization software (Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools)
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Law, Business Administration, Public Policy, Regulatory Studies, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
The following experience is desirable but not essential for success in this role:
- Juris doctorate or ABA-approved paralegal certificate highly desired
- Professional certifications such as Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), or similar industry certifications
- Prior experience supporting product compliance in a law firm, in-house legal department, or compliance-heavy function at a technology company
- Hands-on experience with AI governance frameworks, responsible AI initiatives, or AI risk management
- Experience standing up or scaling a new compliance coverage area, rather than only maintaining an existing one
- Familiarity with compliance automation platforms, AI-powered compliance solutions, or legal tech tools
- Public speaking or training delivery experience
