About this role

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a senior payments business analyst to lead the design and implementation of an enterprise end-to-end payment and settlement traceability capability. The role will map payment journeys across applications, define lifecycle events and exception states, shape the target operating model, while also supporting the anomaly detection and Swift Resilience workstreams where traceability, event data and process knowledge are shared dependencies.

Why this role is important to us?

Payment status information is currently distributed across origination, middleware, screening, credit, repair, market gateway and reconciliation platforms. A unified traceability capability will support faster incident triage, improved client communication, operational resilience and audit-ready evidence.

Join us if contributing to our Payments Business Risk and Resiliency Programs is a challenge you are up for.

What you will be responsible for

- Lead discovery and business analysis across in-scope payment and settlement applications, rails, gateways and operating teams.
- Create and maintain the application inventory, end-to-end process maps, lifecycle-event model, exception taxonomy, data lineage and ownership model.
- Define requirements for payment search, identifier correlation, real-time or near-real-time status, lifecycle drill-down, ACK/NACK visibility, alerts, reporting and evidence export.
- Specify data requirements for UETR, end-to-end and internal references, client and account attributes, status timestamps, source systems, queues, exceptions and market responses.
- Lead design of role-based internal views, entitlement-based external views, restricted-data masking and client-safe status labels.
- Partner with Technology and application owners to assess API, event-stream, MQ, log, database-feed and observability integration options.
- Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, test scenarios and traceability matrices; coordinate UAT, defect triage and business sign-off.
- Define operational ownership, alert routing, service levels, escalation thresholds, support procedures and BAU governance.
- Support anomaly detection operations where required and ensure that anomaly events, holds, decisions and case outcomes are visible within the end-to-end payment journey.
- Support Swift resilience work where required

What we value:

These skills will help you succeed in this role:

- Deep knowledge of end-to-end payment processing and the interaction between origination, middleware, screening, credit, repair, gateways and markets.
- Strong business analysis, process mapping, data lineage and requirements-management capability.
- Experience with payment identifiers, SWIFT or ISO 20022 messaging, ACK/NACK statuses and operational exception handling.
- Understanding of APIs, messaging, event data and observability concepts sufficient to partner effectively with Technology and Architecture.
- Strong risk, access-control, privacy, resilience and audit awareness.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, technology, data or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of financial services experience with significant payments, settlement or technology-change exposure.
- Business analysis or process-modelling certification is advantageous.
