About this role

Role summary

Business Assessment (BA) is Pfizer's independent, enterprise commercial assessment function within Global Commercial Analytics (GCA), informing investment decisions across pipeline, business development, and lifecycle management through evidence-based forecasts and business case assessments. BA answers one question for every asset it touches: should Pfizer invest, prioritize, or change course — independent of asset advocacy, with explicit ranges and scenarios rather than single-point answers.

The Senior Director owns revenue forecasting and investment-case development for the I&I portfolio, leading a team of 3 (Director/Senior Manager level) and reporting to the Business Assessment Lead. This is a high-visibility seat with direct exposure to enterprise investment decisions across pipeline, BD, and LCM.

Role responsibilities

- Lead and develop a team of 3, setting forecasting standards and reviewing output before it reaches SGT/PMT and asset-level decision forums

- Own analytically rigorous, patient-based revenue forecasts for I&I pipeline and BD candidates at every stage — AiP, FMA, POC, DP3, and post-launch LCM

- Calibrate rigor to the decision: scale analytical depth and external research to the stage, timeline, and data available, so the team's effort matches what the decision actually needs

- Hold the line on forecasting consistency across the I&I portfolio — internal pipeline, BD options, and in-line assets — so results are comparable across a business case rather than built asset-by-asset from scratch

- Partner directly with Clinical, Commercial, Finance, and Portfolio functions to pressure-test assumptions and keep BA's forecasts grounded in what those functions are seeing

- Advance how the team forecasts, not just what it forecasts — adopting AI-enabled methods and modern analytical tooling that raise speed, depth, and reproducibility

- Manage a portfolio of concurrent deliverables and reallocate the team ahead of peak periods rather than reacting to them

- Present findings and an objective commercial view to SGT/PMT and senior leadership even when the recommendation cuts against what's expected — BA's value is the independence of the call, not agreement with it

Qualifications

- BA/BS required; MBA or life sciences advanced degree preferred

- 12+ years in the pharmaceutical industry or adjacent analytical fields — life sciences consulting, healthcare-focused financial services — with working knowledge of the drug development process, competitor and healthcare-market dynamics in the US and major ex-US markets, and how those forces move BD and pipeline decisions

- Experience building and leading analytical teams, including developing Director- and Senior Manager-level talent

- Demonstrated ownership of patient-based revenue forecasting end to end: building the model, defending the assumptions, and distilling the output into a business-case recommendation an executive audience can act on

- Track record influencing commercial and research leaders without direct authority over them — able to hold a forecast's conclusion under challenge from stakeholders who have a stake in a different answer

- BD experience across the deal lifecycle — opportunity identification, commercial assessment, deal structuring — spanning acquisitions, divestitures, partnerships, joint ventures, and co-development

- Comfortable delivering a rigorous answer on a compressed timeline with incomplete information

- I&I therapeutic-area experience a plus, not required

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
