About this role

SCHEDULE: Part time, up to 25 hours a week. Evenings and weekends

Hope Haven is seeking a part-time Enrichment Specialist to plan, coordinate, and facilitate engaging recreational, social, and enrichment activities for residents of our 24-hour residential facility. This role focuses on evening and weekend programming for a largely independent client population, with an emphasis on building a consistent calendar of meaningful activities — including arts and crafts, religious/spiritual services, yoga, wellness programming, games, and other community-building events. The Enrichment Specialist will also recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers who lead or assist with these activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and maintain a regular weekly/monthly calendar of evening and weekend enrichment activities for residents

Recruit, screen, and coordinate outside volunteers and community partners who lead activities (arts and crafts instructors, faith leaders, yoga instructors, musicians, guest speakers, etc.)

Serve as the on-site point of contact for volunteers during scheduled activities, ensuring smooth setup, facilitation, and clean-up

Facilitate or co-facilitate activities directly when volunteer coverage is unavailable

Promote activities to residents and encourage participation, tailoring outreach to residents' interests and needs

Maintain attendance records and basic participation data for activities offered

Ensure all activities comply with facility safety protocols, licensing requirements, and any applicable NC Medicaid or residential program standards

Coordinate necessary supplies, materials, and space setup/breakdown for each activity

Communicate regularly with residential staff and leadership regarding the enrichment calendar, resident engagement, and any volunteer-related needs or concerns

Conduct basic background/safety checks or coordinate with HR for volunteer vetting, as required by agency policy

Maintain a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for residents of varying backgrounds, faiths, and abilities

Perform other duties as assigned to support resident engagement and quality of life

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in a 24-hour residential substance use disorder and behavioral health treatment environment. Activities may occur in resident common areas, meeting rooms, outdoor spaces, community locations, faith-based settings, or other approved environments.

Regular interaction with residents, volunteers, clinical staff, residential staff, community partners, instructors, and visitors is expected. The position works primarily during evenings and weekends and requires flexibility based on resident programming needs and volunteer availability.
