Job Summary:

As a Senior Software Development Engineer in our Embedded Player team, you will own and drive high-impact initiatives that enable the transformation of our existing video player into a scalable, extensible SDK. You will build robust backend systems, services, and APIs that support SDK adoption, integration, and lifecycle management, while working closely with the broader player engineering teams to enable this migration. About the Team:

Join the team responsible for delivering world-class video playback experiences to millions of users across Desktop, Mobile Web, Smart TVs, and emerging connected devices. You'll build the backend services, APIs, and platform capabilities that enable seamless SDK integration, configuration, lifecycle management, and adoption across diverse client platforms. Working closely with the broader Player engineering teams, you'll help shape the architecture and technology that powers the next generation of video playback at JioHotstar, serving millions of users every day.

Key responsibilities ● Own the end-to-end development of backend capabilities that enable the migration of the existing video player into a scalable, extensible SDK ● Design and implement robust APIs, services, and platform components that support SDK integration, configuration, lifecycle management, and adoption ● Develop scalable, reliable solutions for supporting player functionality across multiple client platforms and device ecosystems ● Collaborate closely with Player engineers, product managers, and platform teams to define requirements, architecture, and migration strategies ● Build monitoring, observability, and operational frameworks to ensure the reliability, performance, and health of SDK-enabled player services ● Optimize backend workflows and services for performance, scalability, cost, and latency while maintaining high reliability standards ● Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing through documentation and technical discussions ● Drive continuous improvement through profiling, monitoring, architecture evolution, and iterative optimization of the platform

Skills and attributes for success: ● 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong experience building backend services and production-grade systems ● Expert-level proficiency in at least one of: Python, or C++ with strong software engineering fundamentals ● Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating scalable backend services and APIs in production environments ● Solid understanding of video playback technologies, including streaming protocols, player architecture, and client-server interactions, or a strong willingness to learn and develop expertise in these areas ● Experience with large-scale distributed systems, microservices, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP) ● Proficiency with backend engineering technologies such as REST/gRPC APIs, databases, caching, messaging systems, and observability frameworks ● Experience building platforms or SDK-enabling services that support multiple clients, platforms, or product integrations ● Understanding of performance, scalability, reliability, and operational considerations when building high-traffic services ● Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to take ownership of complex technical challenges

● Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and platform

teams

Preferred education and experience:

● Bachelors/master's in computer science or a related field with 4 to 7 years of professional experience

● BE/B.Tech in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. MS or PhD a plus
