About this role

Company Overview

The Conduit is a global community of changemakers, innovators and leaders united by a mission to create positive social, environmental and economic change. We see the world’s most pressing problems as opportunities waiting for entrepreneurial solutions. We convene a collaborative community that scales and accelerates those solutions, from a physical home in Covent Garden with industry-leading sustainable and ethical hospitality, where creativity and innovation can flourish. Our members come from all over the world and from every sector, and are representative of the world we live in.

The Impact Team

The Impact team turns the intelligence of our community into funded, real-world action. We work across six pillars – Climate & the Future of Health, Inclusive Economies, Climate & Nature, the Future of Impact Leadership, Reimagining Democracy & Justice, and AI for Good – through our Framework for Impact:

- Solutions Agenda –  sets the priorities where collective action can deliver the greatest impact.

- Solutions Scouting –  spots emerging solutions and unmet needs across our global network.

- Solutions Lab –  incubates, tests and accelerates the most promising ideas.

- Scale –  convenes coalitions, pilots and system-level programmes.

Our next frontier is building new impact ventures. Some of the boldest solutions from our Solutions Lab need their own investable vehicle, with its own commercial model, partners and capital. We are now laying the foundations for the first of these purpose-led spin-outs – and this role is central to that work.

Role Summary

You will lead the due diligence that takes our most promising solutions from compelling concept to investable proposition. You will own the numbers – models, scenarios, capital costs and returns – and the relationships with asset owners, partners, co-funders and investors that make them real.

Initially, you will lead diligence on a confidential, infrastructure-linked venture in our Inclusive Economies and Climate portfolio, preparing it for leading investors, banks and asset managers. You will also build the financial case for an emerging urban climate adaptation coalition. This is a rare role for someone equally at home in a spreadsheet and in a room full of decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Own the Financial Case

- Build and refine robust financial models, with clear scenario, sensitivity and returns analysis.

- Turn partner and site insight into evidence-based inputs.

- Design the capital stack and commercial model, blending investor capital, performance-based structures and philanthropic, public and corporate co-funding.

2. Build the Pipeline and Partnerships

- Build a qualified pipeline of pilot sites and early partners with asset owners and operators.

- Qualify delivery partners, testing pricing, capacity and appetite.

- Build relationships with co-funders and local and regional government, joining the dots across our community.

3. Make it Investable

- Lead investor-ready materials for institutional investors, lenders, asset managers, development finance institutions and foundations.

- Engage capital providers early and shape the proposition around what they need to see.

- Design measurement and verification approaches, aligned with recognised standards, that evidence both financial and impact outcomes.

4. Shape New Ventures and Coalitions

- Help design the operating, governance and legal structure of new spin-outs.

- Develop a repeatable due diligence playbook for future ventures.

- Work closely with senior leadership, our Experts in Residence and the wider Impact team.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

- Financial Modelling and Commercial Analysis

Typically 6+ years in infrastructure or project finance, energy or renewables development, transaction advisory, corporate finance, impact investing, strategy consulting or venture building.

- Advanced financial modelling from scratch, and a strong grasp of unit economics and how investors assess risk and return.

- Business Development and Relationship Building

A track record of originating opportunities and building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, funders and investors.

- A natural connector who spots opportunities and joins the dots across sectors and networks.

- Strategic Thinking and Execution

Able to turn ambiguous, early-stage ideas into structured plans, managing complex workstreams with autonomy.

- Communication and Influence

Able to turn complex analysis into compelling investment narratives, and to present and defend them.

- Sound judgement and discretion with confidential information.

- Cross-sector Understanding

Knowledge of impact, blended and sustainable finance, and how social value is created alongside commercial returns.

- A genuine commitment to social and environmental impact.

Desirable:

- Energy experience, particularly solar, storage, energy efficiency, power purchase or energy performance contracting.

- Built environment, real estate or infrastructure experience, including cost planning or retrofit.

- Experience of social and economic inclusion programmes, such as entrepreneur incubation or skills pathways.

- Start-up, spin-out or venture-building experience.

- Familiarity with impact and ESG measurement frameworks, climate adaptation or urban resilience.

Why Join Us

This is more than a traditional finance role. You will help build The Conduit’s first purpose-led ventures, working with an inspiring network of investors, entrepreneurs and changemakers to turn bold ideas into measurable impact.

Do we also want to add competencies at the end, which I've noticed is standard for Conduit JDs?

Also assume we still publish all these details? Key one for me is that this role will also work closely with Paul, Nick and Tom, and that is a draw for roles like this.
