Make an impact on cutting-edge projects. Help find solutions to complex challenges. Be part of a company that invests in you and your growth. You can do it all as an intern at bp. Our 11-week summer programme gives you the opportunity to build your technical knowledge, develop key skills and learn more about life at bp. You'll be part of one team throughout your internship, supported by a dedicated line manager and buddy. There’ll be opportunities to connect with other interns, take part in training and grow your network across the business.
Role and responsibilities
What you could be working on:
- Researching a market or new jurisdiction, and translating findings into commercial recommendations
- Producing market, news, or customer insights to support trading and origination decisions
- Analysing supply, demand and other market fundamentals to inform short- and medium-term activities
- Automating and improving systems, reports, and analysis using data science techniques

Commercial track – build commercial acumen
Every year, bp invests billions of dollars searching for new sources of energy, supplying our customers with the fuels they need. You’ll help to ensure we make the best use of our investment for bp and for our customers. We want you to be in the best position to propose new and creative ways to maximize value. This could see you working in our Marketing & deal Origination teams or in physical operations or other areas which support trading ideas and deals.
Trading track – develop experience across physical and paper trading
You’ll be part of the teams managing our trades on all the major energy commodity exchanges as well as our daily exposure to global currency and interest rate fluctuations. You’ll have the opportunity to experience different trading disciplines and styles, even the possibility to specialise in quantitative trading.
Analytics track – influence commercial and trading decisions
As part of a highly commercial and skilled team, working in the fast-paced trading world, and with access to vast amounts of data, our analysts have an opportunity to directly influence the bottom line.
