About this role
Position Summary
The System Adult Trauma Program is seeking an experienced and innovative System Adult Trauma Clinical Educator to lead the development and delivery of trauma education across our health system. This role will support a hybrid trauma education model designed to enhance trauma competency, improve patient outcomes, and deliver specialty-specific education that meets the unique needs of inpatient caregivers.
Working closely with trauma program leadership, nursing education teams, and clinical departments, the Trauma Clinical Educator will create and implement targeted educational programs, hands-on skills training, competency validation processes, and performance improvement initiatives that support excellence in the care of injured patients throughout the continuum of care.
About the Role
A comprehensive evaluation of trauma education identified opportunities to improve staff knowledge, confidence, and preparedness when caring for trauma patients. While Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) provided a strong foundational knowledge base, ongoing feedback from leaders and educators highlighted the need for more specialty-focused and unit-specific education.
This position is a key investment in building internal trauma education expertise and creating sustainable, relevant learning experiences tailored to the unique needs of intensive care, telemetry, medical-surgical, emergency, perioperative, and specialty care teams.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of four years’ experience, strongly prefer trauma, critical care, emergency nursing, or related acute care experience.
Preferred:
- Experience in staff development, clinical education, precepting, or mentoring
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and influence practice changes across multiple departments/locations.
- Experience with simulation-based education and competency assessment.
- Previous involvement with trauma verification, accreditation, or performance improvement programs.
