Product Design Lead (UI/UX)

About LBMX

LBMX is a dynamic and growing SaaS company with an international perspective, proudly based in London, Ontario. As we continue our strong growth trajectory, we’re looking for talented, driven, and collaborative individuals to join us and help shape what’s next.

Recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, LBMX combines strong performance with a people-first culture. We believe in building meaningful careers, supporting work-life balance, and creating an environment where your contributions are valued and your growth is encouraged.

At LBMX, you’ll have the opportunity to grow, contribute meaningfully, and be part of a team building something exceptional.

Position Description:

We're looking for a Product Design Lead to own the quality and consistency of the experience across our product portfolio. As the sole dedicated designer, you'll set the standard for how LBMX products look, work, and feel,  and build the practice that keeps them that way.

LBMX Product Managers increasingly create their own wireframes and prototypes with AI tools. Your job is to make sure that speed doesn't come at the cost of coherence: you'll own the design system those wireframes must follow, run the user research that keeps our experience intuitive and grounded in how users actually work, and design the onboarding and in-product guidance that help customers succeed on their own. You'll be a creative partner to our Principal Product Managers — someone to bounce ideas off, ideate with, and design solutions alongside.

You'll be a senior individual contributor with high visibility, partnering with Principal Product Managers, Product Managers, and Engineering — influencing through craft, evidence, and credibility.  AI fluency is core to this role. You'll use AI tools to accelerate research synthesis, prototyping, and documentation, and you'll shape how the wider product team uses AI to design well.

Positions Available: 1

What You Will Do:

- Own the end-to-end user experience across LBMX's product portfolio, ensuring it is coherent, usable, and consistent for buying groups, suppliers, and members/distributors.

- Plan, run, and synthesize ongoing user research — usability testing, journey mapping, and benchmarking against best-in-class B2B SaaS patterns, to ensure our solutions are intuitive and reflect how users actually work rather than how we think internally.

- Drive empathy for users across the product team, helping Principals, Product Managers, and Engineering see the product from the user's point of view.

- Build and maintain a research repository so user insights are reusable across the product team, not lost in individual decks.

- Own LBMX's design system: components, patterns, interaction standards, content guidelines, and accessibility rules, maintained in Figma and aligned with the coded component library in partnership with Engineering.

- Make the design system easy for non-designers to use well, including templates, guidance, and AI prompts that let Product Managers produce on-standard wireframes and prototypes.

- Partner with Product Managers on the wireframes and prototypes they create, offering guidance and feedback that keeps the experience consistent, accessible, and aligned with the design system.

- Design the in-product onboarding experience — first-run flows, empty states, walkthroughs, tooltips, and contextual help — so new users can get started inside the product on their own.”

- Champion accessibility, obtain WCAG 2.1 AA conformance across products.

- Partner with Engineering during build to resolve design questions quickly and verify that what ships matches what was designed.

- Gather post-launch usability feedback and recommend improvements alongside the adoption data owned by Product Managers.

- Proactively identify UX problems across the portfolio, maintain a prioritized backlog of experience debt, and bring proposed solutions without waiting for a brief.

- Support the platform modernization program by defining how legacy experiences should evolve, not just be ported.

- Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate research synthesis, prototyping, design exploration, and documentation, and apply judgment to the output.

- Coach Product Managers and other non-designers in design thinking, usability basics, and good AI-assisted design practice.

- Other duties as assigned.

What You Will bring:

- 7+ years of product design experience, including at least 3 years at a senior or lead level, with significant time in B2B SaaS or enterprise software.

- A portfolio showing end-to-end work on complex, data-heavy workflows, including the research behind the decisions and the measurable results.

- Demonstrated experience planning and running user research yourself, particularly usability testing, not only consuming it.

- Strong working knowledge of best-in-class B2B SaaS design patterns and conventions.

- Experience building or owning a design system and partnering with engineers to keep design and code aligned.

- Experience designing onboarding, in-product guidance, or self-service help experiences.

- Experience operating as the sole or most senior designer in a team, setting standards and influencing without formal authority.

- Expert proficiency in Figma, including components, variables, and prototyping.

- Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and how to apply them.

- Practical, hands-on use of AI tools in design work, including research synthesis, prototyping, exploration, or content, with clear judgment about where they help and where they don't.

- Clear, persuasive communicator, comfortable presenting rationale to executives and challenging product decisions with evidence.

- Basic understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS, component frameworks) considered an asset.

- Experience with supply chain, distribution, EDI, rebates, or buying-group products considered an asset.

- Degree in interaction design, HCI, graphic design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
