Technician Apprentice
Primary Goal: Assist senior technicians while building hands-on experience, learning safety standards, and completing classroom or on-the-job training to earn a full-service certification or journeyman status.
Work Settings: Automotive repair shops, industrial plants, commercial facilities, or field service locations.
Common Responsibilities
- Assist & Learn: Work alongside senior mechanics or technicians to perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and component teardowns.
- Perform Basic Repairs: Handle routine tasks like oil changes, fluid checks, minor electrical or mechanical fixes, and part replacements.
- Use Tools & Diagnostics: Learn to operate hand tools, power tools, specialized diagnostic software, and testing equipment.
- Maintain Safety & Workspace: Keep the shop or work area clean, organized, and compliant with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) policies.
- Complete Training: Attend required company training sessions, trade classes, or manufacturer-sponsored programs (such as ASE or manufacturer certifications).
Typical Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (technical/vocational schooling is often preferred or helpful).
- License: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, work in tight or elevated spaces, and lift heavy equipment (frequently up to 50 lbs).
- Soft Skills: Eagerness to learn, strong attention to detail, reliability, and basic communication or computer skills.
