About this role

NASA has multiple Moon and Mars exploration projects. In the next few decades, we will explore the Moon and prepare for Human exploration of Mars. There are many research and development activities underway to enable deep Space exploration.

Travel time from the Earth to the Mars will take four to 8 months. Prior to Astronaut arrival, support assets and logistics supplies will need to be landed so the crew can live and explore on the surface. Examples of the required infrastructure include surface habitats, power generation, in-situ resource utilization, surface mobility, and communications infrastructure.

This project aims to create a 3D animation or visual simulation or Metaverse for the Human Mars architecture. By creating this visual simulation, mission architects, engineers and scientists interested in developing the capability will be able to imagine use case scenarios to help understand and develop operational missions and plans for future Human exploration sites.

Examples of tools and technologies need to simulate this virtual world include Solid works, Blender, Maya, and nVidia Omniverse. Some Python or C++ programming skills will be helpful for conducting the research and creation of this virtual world.
