Work Environment This role is based on site at a multi-year power plant construction project designed to provide power for data centers in Ohio, with an initial duration of approximately 1.5+ years before transitioning to subsequent projects. The project is executed on a roughly 20-acre lot and involves approximately 400,000 manhours under a tight schedule, with about 14 months dedicated to the main scope. The facility includes extensive civil and underground work, installation of generators on the back of approximately 38 turbines from various manufacturers, and integration of battery energy storage systems. There is also significant pipeline work, with about 30 miles of pipeline involved, and large electrical and mechanical scopes supported by specialized power teams. The organization operates as an EPC and sometimes as a general contractor, often partnering with sister companies for design and construction, and working with additional firms on specific aspects of the project. The typical schedule is six days per week, 10 hours per day (6x10s), with the expectation of weekday and weekend work as project demands require. Project durations generally range from 612 months, and assignments are located across the country, primarily in Wisconsin and the broader Midwest, with work typically performed on site from job trailers at compressor stations or similar facilities. Travel is a regular part of the role, and team members may be away from home for weeks at a time, with mileage or flights home provided within reason and targeted trips home about once a month or every other month, depending on project phase. The onsite team typically includes 23 Project Engineers per site, along with construction management, quality, and safety personnel present routinely, while the Project Manager is office-based and conducts periodic site visits. New engineers benefit from a strong, formalized training program and are initially paired with a senior Project Manager or team, starting with focused responsibilities such as material management before progressing to broader project scopes. The culture emphasizes strong retention, close-knit field teams that operate like a small family, and hands-on development, with clear pathways to advance into Project Manager roles over time. Standard site attire is typical for industrial construction environments, with appropriate safety gear required in the field.
