About this role
Who we are
We are looking for a Platform Architect to lead the modernization and continuous improvement of our platform. The role will define and evolve the target architecture, provide solution guidance to delivery teams, and establish pragmatic standards and reusable patterns aligned with product strategy and operational needs.
The Platform Architect will combine strategic architecture leadership with hands-on support for solution design, technical decision-making, modernization sequencing, and complex problem resolution. The role will ensure that platform evolution improves scalability, resilience, security, maintainability, delivery speed, observability, and cost effectiveness without losing sight of business priorities and delivery constraints.
What you'll be doing
- Assess the current platform architecture, identify structural risks and technical debt, and define a clear target architecture and phased modernization roadmap
- Translate product strategy, business priorities, service expectations, and non-functional requirements into platform architecture principles and actionable engineering direction
- Define reference architectures, reusable patterns, guardrails, decision criteria, and standards for applications, APIs, integrations, data, infrastructure, security, observability, and delivery automation
- Lead architecture and solution-design activities for major platform changes, modernization initiatives, new capabilities, and complex cross-cutting requirements
- Review proposed technical solutions and provide timely, pragmatic guidance that balances strategic alignment, delivery speed, risk, complexity, and total cost of ownership
- Establish and maintain architecture decision records, diagrams, standards, technology radars, and other documentation needed for transparent and repeatable decision-making
- Guide modernization of legacy components, including decomposition, migration, re-platforming, refactoring, integration redesign, and retirement of obsolete capabilities
- Ensure architecture adequately addresses scalability, availability, resilience, performance, security, privacy, observability, supportability, disaster recovery, and operational readiness
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Team Leads, Infrastructure, DevOps, Cybersecurity, Data, Support, and Quality Assurance to align decisions and remove architectural blockers
- Promote cloud-native and platform-engineering practices where they provide measurable value, including containers, Kubernetes, automated delivery, APIs, event-driven integration, and self-service capabilities
- Define lightweight architecture governance that supports delivery teams without creating unnecessary process overhead
- Evaluate technologies, frameworks, and platform services through structured analysis and, where appropriate, proofs of concept or limited experiments
- Support critical incident analysis and recurring-problem resolution when architectural causes or cross-platform dependencies are involved
- Mentor Technical Leads and senior engineers, strengthen architecture capability within squads, and promote consistent engineering principles across the platform
- Communicate architecture direction, trade-offs, decisions, risks, and roadmap implications clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
What you'll bring along
- Strong expertise in platform, solution, or software architecture for complex enterprise applications and distributed systems
- Experience defining target architectures and modernization roadmaps for platforms that must continue operating while being incrementally transformed
- Deep understanding of cloud-native architecture, containers, Kubernetes, microservices, modular architectures, APIs, integration patterns, and event-driven systems
- Proven experience as a Lead Architect, Platform Architect, Solution Architect, or equivalent role for a complex software platform
- Demonstrable track record leading platform modernization, technical standardization, or large-scale architectural improvement initiatives
- Ability to move fluently between strategic roadmap definition, solution-level design, technical review, and support for delivery execution
- Experience working in product-oriented and multidisciplinary environments with Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Operations, and Support teams
- Strong knowledge of non-functional architecture, including scalability, resilience, performance, security, privacy, observability, disaster recovery, supportability, and cost optimization
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated quality controls, DevSecOps, and production-operability practices
- Knowledge of identity and access management, secrets, secure integration, software supply-chain security, data protection, and architecture risk management
- Experience with architecture documentation, modelling, decision records, reference patterns, technical standards, and pragmatic governance mechanisms
- Ability to understand existing application landscapes, identify coupling and migration constraints, and design realistic transition states
- Strong product and delivery orientation, with the ability to connect architecture choices to customer outcomes, roadmap priorities, and measurable platform improvements
- Excellent facilitation, influencing, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills across technical and executive audiences
- Professional working proficiency in English to lead architecture discussions and communicate with international stakeholders
- Strong ability to evaluate trade-offs, make explicit decisions, manage architectural risk, and provide pragmatic guidance under delivery constraints
- Proactive, collaborative, structured, and outcome-oriented mindset, with strong ownership of platform evolution and engineering coherence
