About this role

Who We Are

We don’t just develop embedded software — we engineer intelligence into products. The Embedded Competence Center at NTT DATA Romania brings together experts in embedded systems, firmware development, and hardware–software integration, delivering robust and high-performance solutions for complex, safety-critical environments. With strong expertise in C/C++, AUTOSAR, real-time operating systems, and communication protocols, we design scalable embedded architectures, integrate software seamlessly with hardware, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Across the industries we support — from Automotive and Industrial Automation to Smart Devices and IoT — we transform reliable embedded technology into a foundation for innovative, dependable products.

As a System Integration Test Engineer , you will be responsible for the integration, testing and validation of complex embedded automotive systems. You will work closely with System Engineering, Software Development and Integration teams , translating system requirements and architecture into effective test scenarios, executing tests on HIL environments and contributing to test automation.

The role requires previous hands-on experience in embedded systems testing, system integration or automotive validation , ideally with dSPACE, IBM Rhapsody and automotive communication protocols .

Location: Craiova, Romania – minimum 80% on-site (requiered)

What you'll be doing

- Analyze and understand system requirements, system architecture and functional models, including models defined in IBM Rhapsody.

- Derive test specifications, test scenarios and test cases based on system requirements and architecture.

- Develop and maintain automated test cases using dSPACE AutomationDesk.

- Execute and monitor tests using dSPACE AutomationDesk / ControlDesk and HIL environments.

- Perform automated, manual and exploratory testing, including basic vehicle-level checks such as smoke tests.

- Analyze system behavior and identify appropriate test boundaries, interfaces and coverage.

- Analyze test results, investigate deviations and report defects using ALM and requirements management tools such as DOORS NextGen and EWM.

- Set up, configure and maintain HIL test environments, including HW/SW simulations.

- Connect and configure ECUs, restbus simulations, measurement devices and test benches.

- Perform measurements and collect technical evidence using oscilloscopes, signal traces, logs and other instrumentation.

- Support root-cause analysis by correlating test results, communication signals and system behavior.

- Collaborate within Agile development teams, providing testing input during sprint planning, reviews and other development activities.

- Work closely with internal and external project teams to ensure efficient integration and high-quality delivery.

- Provide on-site testing and integration support when required.

- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes, test coverage and automation.
